Need help... fast!

Just put on new brake pads in the rear. I used the kit from advance auto to compress and rotate the caliper's piston to help install the new pads (Wagner Thermo quiet ceramic). I just went to drive and its like these things are constantly engaged. I couldn't even go into reverse without giving it some decent amount or rpms without it wanting to bog down...

I have two thoughts:

1. When you screwed the caliper pistons in, did you turn them all the way in until they wouldn't go any further? Did you have any problem getting the calipers with pads loaded to slide over the rotors? If the answers are yes an no then...

2. Take a look at the emergency brake cables where they connect to the calipers. I'd bet you have one or both of the cables kinked or the connection has slipped so that the e-brake is staying partially applied.

The width of the pads were .664 and I got the Weavever semi metallic and they were .570. Anyways, long story short, they were the right product according to Wagner, but they're too big. Even on worn rotors.

Right. GTs and Cobras share the same calipers and what not. but what main difference is the thickness of the pad. Cobras use a thicker rotor to help with heat, and hence, being the calipers are the same...you need thinner pads...

I have a Mach 1, but advance auto AND Wagner's website said that the pads I bought were correct, but who knows...

Trust me, we (Master Technician neighbor and I) tightened and loosened the hell out of those bastereds, I don't see how those pads would work anyways, because the clearance between both of them put together was more than .15" difference between the Wagner and the Wearever. They just didn't fit. Is a .664" pad supposed to fit my factory rear brakes? My cheapy Haynes manual said .71 Cobra and .55 all other models.
