time for a cobra/saleen?

so im 17 and ive been working 6 days a week for 2 years now as a detailer on a car lot, ive got a 99 mustang gt thats worth around 7000 and ive been thinking of selling it, ive been approved for a loan and im looking for a 2003-04 cobra (stock? exhaust or a few boltons like a smaller pully or somthing would be alright) with under 90k miles, or a 03-04 saleen, i prefer sonic blue , black, or the dark shadow gray i think its called (the goldish one), im looking to spend anywhere from 13-18k and was wondering if anyone could provide links to some they've seen that match those qualities or if they have one they're selling, im open to other colors except yellow really. thanks

You can easily find one with less miles than that. I saw a 2003 with 54,000 miles, bone stock, red convertible and tan top (DROOL...) for $16,400. Also, cash talks. Set your limits to $20,000.

If your looking to do some HP making on a fair budget just look for the Cobras, By far IMO the best bang for your buck with the factory block, fuel system, ext. svtperformance.com has a ton on there for sale if you were looking to browse!

A Cobra will probably run you $14-21k approximately. Lots of them on SVTPerformance, but most of those will be on the high side an heavily modified. Not sure exactly what you're looking for in that department.

Keep in mind a Saleen has got an unforged 2v motor with an M90 supercharger, and the Cobra has a forged 4v motor with an M112. Don't count out 99/01 Cobras and Machs though. They're plenty quick and much cheaper.

I'll do my best to refrain from giving financial advice, even though I was a young auto detailer once, but think about this; if you get a Cobra they're going to bury you on insurance premiums.

The cobra on my avatar is a real good friend of mine it has I think 100,000 on it but it's been in a garage for about 3 months the previous owner used it to travel about 140 miles a day on highway (who I also know )its been babied as far as not giving it to much hell ... Anyways this guy is always talking bout selling it if you offer him 14,500 he'll sell it only if your interested tho.. Just thought I'll throw that out their

Has a couple bolt ons as well put out numbers in the 400s on the dyno

forgot to add in that i dont want a convertible , i wont even browse at them, im not looking for many mods id like to stick as close to stock as possible aside from exhaust and a smaller pully , as for insurance im paying 50 a month for full coverage on my 99 gt 5 spd and while im going to college my insurance will cover me under my family still so it'll be the fourth car and should be relatively low yet, i havent looked at svtperformance in awhile but last time i checked they seemed awfully high on there

$50 a month??? My last one was about $70 a month, for minimum coverage on a POS 02 Neon, that's with a clean driving record, good student discount, multi car discount, and I'm 22. Granted this was in NY, that may change when I switch to IN.

And SVTPerformance is largely higher dollar heavily modded Cobras. Those guys have deep pockets anyway. Depends on what you're looking for.

You say it like its impossible, or a bad thing? Hes had a steady job for 2 years that he works 6 days a week at. Why would he not be able to get a loan? As long as he can provide 2 years returns and proof of employment it shouldnt be a problem.

Heres a car for you to check out man. I know it has 90k miles (which was your max mileage stated) but its sonic blue (best color ever made) and seems to be extremely well taken care of. Plus at $11,500, its at the lower end of your budget. Just a suggestion.

If it all is true this kid's got some serious luck on his side. 17, low insurance, getting a Saleen or Cobra. Another thing working in your favor is body experience. Get one with some scratches and dents you can fix yourself, you'll save a few bucks.

My bank wouldn't give me a loan for less than I had tied up with them. I wanted a relatively small loan, and actually had more than that in a time account with them, but I got refused. Granted this was at the height of the banking crisis, but still absurd.

Best of luck to you man. Though it doesn't sound like you need it.

If your willing to drive you can always check out Hi End Auto in appomatax Virginia (spelling)

That guy buys cobras from auctions or owners pending on the condition of them and sells them.
I think he has around 24 03/04 cobras chillin in the lot.

ill have around 10-11000 cash once i sell my car which ive got quite a few interested in it at the moment and my parents will be co-signing so im looking to take a loan out for 2-6k since ill be going to college and have other payments also, and i payed off my last loan recently so ive got some built credit also, 14,500 doesnt sound too bad , is that price including the new clutch, and im really set on a 03/04cobra, the saleen is more of an iffy depending on if i like it, some i see i love some i dont, sonic blue is one of my favorite colors on the cobras.

as for the insurance im 17, no wrecks, no tickets, good grades which lower it, and its in missouri in a rural area, so 70 sounds pretty good for the city also but at the moment im around 50 and i wouldnt expect an 03/04 cobra would shoot it up that much im not sure how insurance works but i think they classify cobras as a 03/04 mustang v8 6spd, like mine almost except newer and mines a 5 spd i cant see a huge difference

i have full coverage and its cheaper than 50 a month state farm is wicked sick

I advise full coverage. I got in a wreck that wasn't my fault at all. So many people don't have insurance its crazy. The chick that hit me was in a car with dealer plates on it still. No insurance, not license, nothing. After apologizing to me, she tried to run away. I chased her on foot until a person in a car followed her until the popo got her.

Dark Shadow Grey is a very gunmetal color. Mineral Grey (in my sig) has more of a gold tint in the sun.

My insurance is $491 a month. It would be $739 if I hadn't begged my dad to put his 2002 GMC Envoy on it. Not bad for 2 accidents and being 19, huh? It's a good thing they didn't know about my '95 Exploder roll over at 70...
