MACH 1 blowing black smoke at full throttle

OK so i was racing one of my friends last night and obviously i smoked him and we stopped and he said that i was blowing out black smoke from under my car, so i check under the car and there is a brown fluid on my catted x back but nothing on up towards my manifold from the x pipe... im thinkin that its leaking from my tranny... 3rd gear syncros are gone as well in my car... i was racing from a 40 starting in 2 and as soon as i hit 4th he said it stopped...
PLZ help im hoping its just the tranny cuz replacment is one its way

if its was the trans, it should leak at all times not stop when you get to a different gear. if its a small leak, then the fluid may of burned off by the time you got to 4th. if its coming from under the car and not tail pipes, its more than likely a leak instead of an internals engine/trans issue.

well thats good news i hope, i knew that i was leaking gear fluid from when i had my gears installed but it had stopped

ya what im hoping.. he said it was straight black until i was at higher speeds and it did it three times.. im try pooring injector cleaners in it to see if it clears it out

ya thats what my freinds thinks it was at 130 in the mourning so who knows, all i know was that there was a brown fluid on my x pipe but not my manifolds

well he checked it out, only black smoke left would be wot. since there is no damage to anything and the motor runs fine.. his friend is probably not used to seeing that, and might have over reacted making it a big deal.

ya we just had like 25 inches of snow like a week ago and its been 65 for the past 5 days so there is alot of salt on the roads, but the srt4 neon that i was racing said it was black and there was 2 different people that said the same thing

the car only has 38,000 miles on it, and tranny is going out and has been raced many times and im a pretty good driver so........ i think i replace plugs and run injector cleaner then wait till my t56 gets here and hopefully it willl stop, but hopefully some more people will have advice

damn that trans must have been beaten to death

see thats why i had to put the note in there that im not a scrub of a driver, ya i have missed a shift here and there but who hasnt, and i should state that the car is my daily driver and i go from 2nd to 4th

alright so i found out what it is...... there is a seal were my driveshaft goes into the tranny and been torn apart.. so my t56 doesnt get here for about another weekand a half so im going to drop the driveshaft and replace the sael and replace the tranny fluid that was lost
