I've got them in my Mach. They're ok, but I'd take the money you would spend on them and get some custom grinds for a little more and get better results.

He will help you decide what you want to do if you do custom grinds. He's the man when it comes to normal aspiration.

if you arent doing anything aggressive, you wont need a set of custom grinds. the FR's are a good mild cam, but they are a mild cam.

The aggressiveness of the specs has nothing to do with whether or not he would benefit from custom cams.
FRs are great cams but require springs, but they are longer available. I bought the last 7 kits from Ford about a year ago and they are pretty much non-existent these days. Occasionally you will see the cams in the classifieds but you would still need springs. Lastly, the install will cost twice as much if you go with cams that need springs. The FR500 specs are 212/208, .472" lift with a 109LSA, no advance. Stock 96-98 cobra cams have 204 deg dur so the FRs are very mild in comparison. They do have more lift but lift means little on 4vs unless the heads are ported in a way that increases high lift flow. Custom cams will give you alot more power and if the lift is .450 or less you can use the stock springs. I can get a Mach to 370rwhp with a set of cams that use stock springs.
