Idle problem?

Ok guys, I just bought a 97 Cobra and at idle the rpms jump up to 2000 hold for about 10 seconds then fall back down to normal then jump up again. Any ideas on what might be causing this??

Will try. I think I'm going to try cleaning the Iac first. Thanks

if your IAC is bad, it usually can't be cleaned and needs replacement....Can you hear changing whistle/vacuum sound when it goes up or down?

Not that I can tell. If cleaning it doesn't help, I guess I'll drop a $100 for a new one!

Cool! With 80,000 miles on the car, I'm better off just spending the $54 and putting on a new Iac!

Ok guys thanks for the problem solving. I cleaned the Iac and that fixed the problem, so I decided just to go ahead and put a new one on since the car has 80,000 miles on her. Few more issues to take care of on her then its time for mods!!
