01 cobra engine direct port nitrous setup


ok heres the deal some dudewants to trade me a 01 cobra engine with fully built bottom end 8:5:1 compression forged internals port n polished heads valve job on a direct port nitrous kit on race tune has 1200 miles on build n never sprayed nitrous. but spun rod bearing on #3 cylinder due to oil pump goin out but he said as soon as he noticed the tick he shut it off n had his buddy come tow him home n pulled motor hours later.. .................................................. .................................................. ..............................my question is would it b worth trading my 5.4 lightning engine for it and jus replace the pump n rod bearings n be good to go? n how much hp do u think it would have on that setup? he claims with 150shot 600-700hp is expected from wat speedy dyno has told him....

I personally wouldn't touch it... and LOL AT 600hp in a 150 shot. Probably more like 450 rwhp. A low compression 4.6 won't make shit for power. Maybe 300 rwhp because of the head work and cams. Why the hell did he have a low compression motor built for nitrous? Nitrous likes high compression...

why would you trade a motor that is running and in good condition for a motor that isnt running and in pretty poor condition? it doesnt matter how fast that man turned off that car because the damage was done before he even started reaching for the key.

lol he said he had ordered high compression pistons but manley sent him low compressoin ones n he jus went ahead n put those in cuz he was gonna put boost on it couple months later.

n yea lol good point damage was already done but thought maybe it would b worth it jus cuz low comp pistions n i have a 70mm turbo kit i got from a buddy wen he wrecked his gt so thought maybe easy fix but u never kno wats all wrong with it also like yall said before

depends on amount of nitrous sprayed and how its introduced.

the motor probably saw some high revs, a high revving 4.6 can clear 400hp. With a 150 shot, I could believe 600-700flywheel hp. Makes sense too because revs kill the oil pumps. I would go for it, tear it apart and see whats actually going on with the motor, and replace the pistons for a proper CR.
