Broken Idler Pulley

So I was checking things over before heading to the track tonight, and I'm glad I did. I have an '03 Cobra motor, and apparently I sheered of the stud or whatever holds the idler pulley on the bridge (idk what else to call it) by the power steering reservoir. I went from this

To this

There wasn't any squeaking or grinding to let me know if a bearing in the idler was going out or anything. Is there any way to get the rest of that stud out of there and just put in a new pulley, or will I have to get a whole new bridge?

Can that thing even be taken out or is it casted with the rest of the bridge?

Man that sucks. Good thing you found it though.

Harbor Freight sells all these easy outs I guess you can call them. It was like $15 and came with 12 pieces, they bight onto the bolt head and twist it out. One of my bolts was completley rounded, no socket would fit on there, and I used one and came out like butter. You could definatley drill it out though.

I thought you were talking about part of a bolt broken off in the threads, yea thats all one piece so unless you know a good machinist that can weld it up and machine that back in there your pry gonna need the whole bridge, damn things are not cheap either

If I were you there looks to be enough left there for the pulley to ride on, drill the threads a little deeper, put a helicoil in there and get a longer bolt.

Thanks for the info 4vGT. Yeah, I looked at it too and it's just gouged (sp?) a little from where the edge of the pulley was riding on it. I put a different idler on there and everything bolted up nice and tight. I haven't driven on it yet though. Before I drive it hard or anything I'm going to bring the car back home, take the bridge off, and weld on the bridge to fill in where it's gouged out.

I'm thinking I'll drill the hole as far through as I can and run a tap through there for a longer bolt like you suggested too.
