Pump for 60# injectors

I have a 96 cobra that will soon have a turbo installed. I do like to go a little overkill for safety reasons. So the question is what pump do I need to be able to push 60# injectors successfully. Also would it be better to just run adjustable fuel pressure regulator over an FMU. All suggestions would be appreciated.

What are you hp goals... In my opinion, go return style and get an aeromotive boost referenced FPR.

I have no clue lol. I assumed they were returnless because my 01 was returnless, so my bad. If so, I guess my DD is return lol

I think 99+ was returnless. Prior to that it should be return style.

Which brings me to a point; how hard to do you think it'd be to swap in a fuel setup from a pre 99 car, and run big power return style?

Also I'm planning to go with 60lb/hr injectors with twin GT pumps, Cobra tank, and dual FPDM. Pump size also depends on power levels. I'm shooting for ~550hp initially, then eventually 600-700. But keep in mind that's returnless. If you're return you can look at Aeromotive or Walboro, and dual either 255's or 340's.

Ive done the fore fuel hat with twin walbro 255lph in a return setup, then to a Glenns which was later swapped over in favor of the behind bars race cars aluminum tank with twin Bosch 044s and a magnaflow regulator.

My advice if your want to go big (returnless) is to get a sumped tank with either inline pumps or a large pump like the magnaflow or some other brand.

I have a 98 cobra and i sumped my tank, used an Aeromotive eliminator, and an aeromotive adj fuel pressure regulator. Im feeding 72# injectors just fine.

So what is the volume of that pump and at what pressure should I run the injectors at? Should I run them at 60# at all times or what.

I can't tell you what pressure or flow rating of the pump, but you don't personally set the flow rate of the injectors. Their duty cycle is based on the fuel map in the ECM, which is set by the tune. It also varies according to load.

You also realize that bigger injectors don't mean more power right? Combustion is a stoichiometric process, and to get more power you need not only more fuel but more air. And unless you're running a turbo or supercharger, you won't have enough air to justify 60's. It's not like switching to bigger jets on a carburetor. Just thought I'd point that out before you spend any money.

lol yes i do understand that. I am just saying while I am running boost what should my fuel pressure be set at. Or should I just run an fmu with the aforementioned pump?

Mine is set at 45psi, but it is boost referenced, so for every pound of boost, it goes up 1 psi. So if I'm running 20 lbs of boost, my fuel pressure is 65psi.

Ah. I thought when you said "60#" you were referring to 60 lb/hr, as in a flow rate, and you meant 60 psi, as in a pressure. Gotcha. I'm an engineer man, and if there's every anything they drilled into our heads it's PUT UNITS ON EVERYTHING! lol

As for regulator settings you'll have to find someone who runs return style. I've got 0 experience with return style on mod motors. Haven't messed with it since my 1970 Cutlass.

I too am an engineer but I have had several disputes with the professors about it also. If we are in the middle of a conversation the professor should have enough common sense to know what I am referring to.

I am not referring to you but this is just a bad habit of mine, that everybody should be able to read my mind

Ok for the next question will a 255 lph intank and a 255 inline pump work ok or can the single fuel not handle the full flow of the two? Or should I do something different? Is it possible for me to just fabricate another pickup (gravity fead line from the tank to the inline). What do you guys think? I do aprieciate all the responses thus far.
