I do feel it in the shifter, I leaned my head down next to it when I was accelerating and heard it first coming through the shifter as the vibration increased in strength, I dont notice any difference when the engine is hot or cold, oil level is fine just had an oil change about 3 weeks ago with 7 quarts...

wow 7 quarts? Anyways, my shifter will vibrate around real hard in 4th its around that RPM and its gotten worse over the last 2 years. I have a good running motor, tried 2 different clutches but its got to be in the trans for me. Does the vibration get worse for a as the RPM climbs?

Well I received and installed the gaskets to the "t" and rode around the block with the shifter boot off to hear better, the sound is still there, unaffected by the gasket, but it def. sounds like the noise is coming from the drivetrain somewhere, either the tranny or the ujoint/driveshaft...so I guess im gonna have to jack her up and take a gander hopefully tomorrow. On a side note, dummy questions, should I be able to pull out of gear without pushing in the clutch when driving? I cant put it back in gear without the clutch in, but it just seemed kinda odd to me to be able to do so...I know the guy put in a sensitive clutch and different flywheel, but I dont think ive ever been able to do that in any other standard car....

Im really at a loss for this damn noise, I put the car on jackstands let it revved it in neutral and I cant hear the noise, the only thing I can figure is its the tranny or something along the suspension, I give up imma have to break down and take the cobra to Dante's Modular Perfromance here in San Diego I hate being defeated...
