Please ignore my ignorance...
Im not too keen when it comes to heads and their parts, is a valve guide the same thing as a lash adjuster? I google imaged both and they look exactly the same. Im starting to think the noise or "rattle" I hear from 3000 to 4000 RPM's when at cruising speed is either or, but oddly enough I dont hear it when throttling through at a quick pace...thanks!!!

guides are powdered medal stock or aftermarket bronze. this is what holds the valve and tolerences are crucial in life of the valve. lash adjuster is little black cylinder thing with adjustable piston. it is on the other side of the follower.
as for your noise, if it were an adjuster, the noise would generally be there all the time no matter if you at idle or WOT.

yeah, I got a chance to pop the hood today when I got home and listen to it, its kinda odd, it doesnt make any more noise than most 4.6L do when revving it up in the driveway, but when i took it around the block I can hear it again between 3000-4000RPM, im starting to wonder it has something to do with the drivetrain? The guy supposedly put in an aftermarket clutch/flywheel right before I bought it and it has an aftermarket short throw in it as well...

Maybe a throw out bearing. Press the clutch in and rev it up to 3-4k. Does it go away?

So the sound goes away with the clutch pushed in?

I dont hear it unless im in any gear and between 3-4K RPMS and at cruising speeds, but if im in neutral and rev it up there I dont hear it, also if im in gear and with heavier throttle through it I dont hear it as well, sorry, I dont know how to word it exactly lol

So researching a lil more into it, I found out alot of people suffer from "shifter noise" whether it be from the aftermarket hurst shifter or my Steeda Tri-ax shifter, I found a link to this guy that makes shifter gaskets and it supposedly cuts out like 95% of noise, im really hoping this is the issue, im gonna pull the boot today and listen to it, does anybody else have shifter noise?

Well Friends, Im really hoping its just my shifter rattling, but unfortunatley preparing for the worst, it might be a spun rod bearing
I found this video and it sounds almost indentical to my issues, and it happens at 3000 RPM's only....fuck my life, at least I have a spare Mark VIII motor lying in my garage maybe I can reuse some of its parts or use what I get from selling my 98GT and just buy forged internals....

Okay so I got a video of my actual car, its kinda hard to hear unless your volume is up high, so maybe the noise is originating near the shifter? If it isnt good enough sound quality let me know and ill re-do it, thanks guys

I want to rule out the spun bearing. Does it change when the engine is at different temperatures? How's your oil level?
Do you feel it in the shifter? Try to feel it by the feeling the noise to a "tap" on a rhythm pattern in the shifter.
