removing spring ISO's
so i lowered my car with H&R race springs a few months ago and have been waiting for them to settle a bit. it seems like they have settled as much as they are going to and i still want the car a little lower as the race springs dont seem like the lower very much at all. i want the race springs because the whole reason i bought them was for the spring rate but i would like the car about 1/2" lower give or take, how do you guys feel about removing maybe 1 iso from all 4 corners? anybody running around like this? i know theres a ton of guys over at SVTP with no isos but i need more reassurance. something about metal on metal doesent do it for me. but if i did do it id take the TOP ones off because there is not as much movement at the top of the spring. any input is appreciated, thanks

It wont hurt anything to take the ISO's out. Its just going to make alittle more road noise. I have H&R SS with no ISO's and they arent wrapped with anything. Alot of guys will wrap electrical tape around the coils to prevent the metal on metal which helps to quite down your ride. You can remove just the fronts if you want or rears it doesnt really matter

I am running the H&R Race Springs just like yours with NO ISO's and have been for almost three years now with no problems. I love the stance. My only complaint is the noise. I get a bit of a metal on metal sound any time I hit a bump. Kind of annoying. I'm thinking about taking the stock springs and cutting them and re-installing them with aftermarket ISO's all around.
But to answer your question, no I have no problems so far and like I said I have been on this setup as a 80% daily driver car for almost three years now.

also do you think id get as much noise if i just took the upper ISOS out? does most noise come from the lower isos because those are the ones that realy move around in the control arm

My stock ISOs are completely out of the front.. the metal noise is annoying.. and people are always like "what was that..?" thinking something on my car broke or clipped something lol.. I can't say it affected my handling at all.. still tucks and runs in corners.

I've driven enough trash cars to have had enough with weird noises, and don't care to turn my Stang into another noisy junker. I'd cut a quarter to a half of a coil before ever taking out the isolators.
...just my humble opinion |

No ISO's sucks, IMO.. too much noise. For me, whenever I back up I get the noise. It sucks having to explain "what that noise is" everytime someone new gets in the car. makes the car sound like junker to me.

Keep the top Isos in the spring and take out the lower ones and if it still isn't low enough then you might want to cut .50 at bottom portion

When I installed mine, I left the lower iso's out on the fronts. No problems at all...minimal extra road noise...but it's a convertible, so who cares?!

i have h&r ss springs and run no isolators anywhere. i dont notice much extra noise at all to be honest. even if there was, i doubt i would notice it with the exhaust. it sits super low, almost wish i would have put atleast one side of the iso's in. taking out the top ones in your case should give you close to the drop you are looking for. give it a shot, if it makes too much noise for you, you could always put them back in and just trim some coils off.

In all fairness to the iso or no iso argument, I have recently discovered that the noise I'm hearing was the struts themselves and not my springs.

and another! i talked to lots of guys (both IRS and SRA) about running no isolators and extra noise. none of them really seemed to say there was any more after putting in springs without them. some guys wrap their springs with electrical tape, i did none of this and i really dont think there is any more noise than before
