what would be the best route on my cobra
I have a 96 convert cobra and im wanting more hp and i was going to go with a kenne bell supercharger but the car has 145000 miles on it so i think i need to rebuild it and i would need to rebuild the transmission to. So i was wanting to know if it would be better to rebuild it all and buy a kenne bell or should i just sell the motor and trans and do a 03 04 cobra turn key engine swap motor and trans all together? Cause for me to rebuild my engine and trans and buy a kenne bell it would cost me more to do that than it would for me to just buy a turn key engine swap off ebay... Your input would be greatly appreciated thanks...

i would just go for the swap and you will still have a forged bottom end and make the same amout of power either way

I am in the same boat as you kinda, I only have 95k tho. Im thinking i may rebuild the motor with high compression pisons and head work to see what kind of NA numbers i can get.

dont go with that blower. it doesnt have a intercooler and your just asking for problems unless you really want to add alot of stuff to keep it cooler.
i just got my car back from the dyno. 97 convert cobra, bbk lt and x pipe. imrc deletes. accufab tb, 255 walbro pump, 60# inj, sct maf, procharger d1sc with the 10lb pulley. easily and safely tuned to 433hp 404tq. 90k miles. its alot of fun so far. i plan on forging the internals, upgrading fuel lines and cranking the boost a bit more. but until then ill enjoy the new set of power. everyone praises the 96-98 block for its amazing hp capabilities and being so light. i wouldnt switch to the big one unless the funding is really really tight. |
