I would look for a 4 valve motor from a Lincoln. They are supposed to be out there. Just gotta look hard.

Forged goes without saying.... Any power adder other than nitrous- simply because I love having my power always there. Turbo, supercharger: centrifigual or screw type.

The way I see it, here are your options:

1.) Rebuild. Somewhere between $200-500, depending on how much you do, and how much needs repair.

2.) MKVIII swap. As low as $300-500. You will be going backwards somewhat by switching to B-heads. Cheap and easy though.

3.) C-head engine swap, Aviator, Marauder, Mach 1, or Cobra donor engine. Generally around $1500 or more.

4.) Forge everything while you're in there. At least $2000. Will take considerable skill, but will let you run the power adder of your choice down the line.

5.) Built long/shortblock. All the fun of forged, already put together. Large variation of price here depending on what you get. Expect at least $2500, but it's assembled and forged! I somewhat went this route, but I bought a 2003 Cobra longblock (and then some) for $3500. Certainly not a bad deal.

What you get is up to you based on your budget, your skills, and your plan.

Forge and rebuild your motor. Then strap on an On3 forward facing turbo kit.
