Need 2 kinds of help.
First, I am looking for a compatible replacement engine for my 99 SVT Cobra. The dealer and a few machine shops say that I have to stick to a another 99 engine. Is there any newer years that can be put in without making any changes? I've heard so many different stories my head is spinning. I just want to get the car on the road.
Secondly, it's my truck, but almost same engine. 03 F150 with the 4.6 Triton engine. It was throwing a misfire code on #3 cylinder. I changed plug and coil. I am losing antifreeze. At first no steam in exhaust, but now there is. Compression is holding at 160 in #3 & #7 cylinders. Pressure checked cooling system and it held. When I pulled the #7 coil, the plug boot was rusted and the spark plug tube was filled with water. The plug smelled like fuel. When I pulled the #3 plug, the plug was wet with what appears to be water. Any ideas on what it could be? Thank you for any help. |

Sorry, I posted that before I realized I wasn't in the SVT forum. See, I am a newbie for a reason. Thanks for the info. We were leaning towards some type of intake issue, however water in the #3 cylinder threw us. Hopefully it's only intake.

Two different issues. And
For the Cobra, you can use any C-port 32v 4.6. Those can be found in '99-'01 Cobras (type R excluded), Mach 1s, and Mercury Maruaders, and *maybe* Lincoln Aviators. Though if you scrap a Marauder to put your Cobra back on the road, you have no soul, lol. I'd dump the truck question in the "all other vehicles section". The Triton 4.6L is entirely different from your Cobra motor - I don't think there's a single part shared between the two; even the blocks are different (truck block is iron, Cobra is aluminum).
