Where not to get a remanufactured engine?

Any reviews on places NOT to get a reman engine would be appreciated. My top choice right now is Accurate Engines in Michigan. 100,000 unliminted mileage warranty. It beats out ATK, Jaspers, Engineguy.com and Engines Direct. I just don't know who to trust. The price is better too. I am ready to send them my engine since 99 are hard to come by.

Not sure if you already made your decision; but I am glad to help however I can.
I will definitely agree that the 99's are hard to come by.

We have one 99 in process; and sourcing adequate cores has been quite difficult. It sometimes takes 2+ cores for us to have material of the quality we need for remanufacturing.

Moderators, the following is not a sales pitch. If anything is not is in the spirit of this forum, please remove, and/or contact me directly at this email address:

Since we just launched EngineGuy.com (2011); I thought it relevant that I let you know a bit more about us.

Engineguy is the online arm of a much larger company. We were created in order to give small, independent mechanics an opportunity to compete with the large shops. Previously, they were not able to purchase our engines and transmissions at a competitive price. By providing an opportunity for them to order online, we streamlined the sales process and reduced costs. Since our inventory is updated daily - quotes and orders are as simple as a paypal transaction. Everything is done online; purchases are processed; tracking information is sent via email; and a truck arrives with your order in 3-5 days.

Basically, Tire Rack for engines/transmissions w/o all of the reviews and comparisons.

The significant difference is that, unlike with Jasper or others, anyone can purchase a longblock or transmission from our site.

The benefit for consumers such as Modded Mustang members is obvious.

We've not only created an opportunity for consumers to access high quality engines and transmissions at an affordable price, we've introduced transparency into the process. You know exactly what a high quality engine should cost, and therefore your labor costs as well.

Educated consumers. High quality product. Competitive pricing.

Now, as far as quality is concerned...

We leverage the best processes and technology in the world. Here are some examples:

• ISO/TS 16949, ISO 14001.

• Robotic automated cleaning.

• Modern material handling with automated delivery system.

• Six CNC horizontal machining centers, Mori Seiki, Mitsu Seiki & LaBlonde Makino.

• Two Gehring CNC 3 spindle honing machines.

• Junker CNC crankgrinder.

• Gehring Line Hone.

• RMB CNC Cam boring.

• Gidding & Lewis High Accuracy Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)

• Hommel Turbowave 8000 – the latest surface finish measuring equipment.

• PAT Gauge Incometer – most accurate instrument for cylinder bore measurement

• AtlasCopco – DC-Torqueing of critical fasteners.

• Cold Dyno spin testing – oil pressure, oil flow, compression and torque.

I trust that this was helpful.
