MMR vs ModMax connecting rods

Has anybody used these brand rods? I decided to get new rods and pistons after purchasing used rods and pistons. The guy that is going to build it said he would rather use brand new stuff just if any warrany issues that may occur. From what I have researched modularmustangracing.com (MMR) rods are made by Manley. I am just not aware of the quality of the ModMax rods and who makes them?

mod max rods are pretty good. i use them as options in my mod600's and in all my mod900's. i think pro power makes them if i remember right. i have couple sets at the shop and will double check.

They are the same, use the ones that cost the least cash. They're good for 700hp (not rwhp) and in n/a engines good to 8k.

Seems like MMR has about a 50hp more rating on both I-beam and H-beam rods. But the ModMax(I) are $279 & MMR(I) are $299, then MMR(H) are $379 and ModMax(H) are $469. Also don't want to stir up a big debate, but what is better for a small boost setup(5-10psi), I-Beam or H-Beam?

I have also found a guy on Craigslist that has brand new 03/04 cobra SVT/Manley rods, he says they are billet and balanced, and that he paid $1300 for them from Ford. He said he would sell them to me for $600. Is this a good deal or is he asking too much for these rods? 4.6 DOHC Billet Throttle Body & Manley Balanced Rods Mustang

That's too much for them. You can get them for $300 on SVTP.

Brand New? I know I have seen them used. I actually just got rid of some used ones for $275 to a guy locally. My builder would rather use new stuff.

Used forged rods are fine and like all parts, used or new, should be inspected before use.

i'm using modmax rods in my car. from what i've read, basically all forged rods are made from the same company, and sent out for finishing to whatever foundry buys them up. read a thread on svtp about it a long time ago.

I am not sure about all of them being manufactured at one plant. I know that does happen with other products, but I would think that there is a few companys that manufacture their own.

I do like how the ModMax comes with the ARP2000 bolts and bronze bushings. When contacting the sales manager today from MMR, he was very short with his answers and didn't seem to want to help. Their rods do not come with bushings and I did not find out of they came with ARP2000 bolts or not.

arp2000's are nice, but not a must. most people wont even push enough to risk an 8740 bolt either.

All MMR rods include Bronze bushings, our apologies if the saleperson did not answer that question for you or was short, although it is not an excuse they were slammed on the phones this morning, do you know what the persons name was because the sales Manager is not here today, are you sure the call was made today? Anyhow If you need any in-depth info please ask for me, my name is Mark and I am always happy to help, Id also like to offer you free shipping for any inconvenience should you decide to order the MR 4340 Forged Rods.

I'm looking for a set of forged rods, and any I have found are 5-600+. For some reason when my friend had the engine rebuilt they put JE forged pistons in it, but kept the stock rods... If someone could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it. I'd even settle for stock termi rods. I don't have high horsepower goals in the future, prob. 400+, nothin crazy. Thanks guys
