M112 or M122 Swap


I want to supercharge my mustang with a PD supercharger. I figure itll be less expensive.

M112 03 Cobra Blower
M122 GT500 Blower

Heres how I would like to do it

Use the Lightning lower intake on my 2v 5.4 with either the stock intercooler or a custom set up.

I need to see pictures of the stock lightning lower intake with the intercooler mounted .

Here is how I got my inspiration/idea.. M112 on a Stock 5.0

Custom Lower intake.. I could just use the Lightning lower



Custom intercooler plate for eatons on 3800 v6's same idea would work on the 5.4 if i needed it to


Heres the tork tech kit on a 5.4


Heres a 5.4 with a lightning lower intake, custom block off plate, and a 99-04 mustang plenum with a centri






I planned on using the tork tech kit but at 1900 plus 300 for the 5.4 spacers, and 100 shipping. Basically 2500 out the door for the kit,

I could have a lightning lower, my choice of eaton blower, intercooler, intercooler pump, reservoir, and custom aluminum plate fabbed, heat exchanger alternator relocation, boost bypass valve, injectors, fuel pump, and maybe money left for a tune or blower cams at that point.


So my question is does anyone have pictures of the lightning lower with the intercooler so I can see if I need to custom fab an intercooler or will the stock lightning style work for me.

Dont tell me buy a cobra or gt500 or anything I already have the GT and Lightning and a F250

The lightning lower looks similar to he 03-04 cobra lower but the coolant lines are on the back. Re lightning 112 has a diff bolt patern than the cobra 112 so they can't be miss matched without an adapter. The lightning 112 has a much taller stance cause the intake runs over the top. If I were you I would use a lightning lower with a whipple or kb. That way it would sit lower and make alot more power.

Thats my whole idea to make a bolt pattern adapter plate from the lightning lower to the cobra or GT500 blower.

Cost is the second reason. I already have a 2000 Lightning and dont want to spend 3000 on the whipple or KB kit. Id rather spend 3000 on the whole project.

above im referring to the cobra 112 and the gt500 122 because of the lower profile and side inlet. the 122 is even lower the the cobra 112. I am going to use the lightning intercooler and lower intake with the m122 and an apater plate, with a battery and alternator relocation.

cost is right around 2000$ total - less if you're actually doing it on a lightning where you already have the lower intake, midplate intercooler, heat exchanger all that, ill be doing this on the mustang though the lightning is the DD.

About the same price give or take for a used centri kit, or a On3 kit, neither which will fit the 5.4 without modification.

Heres a guy whose made a kit to put the gt500 blower on the lightning
