Cobra fuel tank q's

A few years ago a local shop sold me and installed a supposed 03/04 Cobra fuel tank/pumps. But looking at it now that i know more about mustangs, I dont think the 03/04 cobra fuel tank has this extra hose attachment i circled in the pic. Only the GT tanks do. Does anybody know where the part number is stamped on the tank? Is there any other way to tell besides dropping the tank and looking inside to see if its baffled?

My plan is to pull out the filler neck and look in the hole with a flashlight and see if the tank is Baffled, is that something i can do easily without dropping the tank?

How big of a rush are you in? I've got a 03/04 tank just chilling waiting to go in. I could see if I could pick out some discerning features, but you might have to wait a few days.

it is really hard to see any differences from the out side of a gt tank and a cobra tank. i have recently seen that bung in a post from hard hitter. that bung is from a 99 gt tank which is diff than 00-04 gt tanks and cobras do not have that bung. i would drop the tank and look inside for the baffle. the bung could have been added later for a 99 gt or you could have been ripped off.

thanks for the offer wickedsnake, but i think i'm gonna have to drop the tank anyways to confirm.

Stal94- yeah, thats the conclusion ive come to. Either somebody added that bung (which i'm hoping) , but more likely is that i got scammed by the shop and its way too many years later that i cant even go back and blame them. I'm gonna drop the tank this weekend and see whats up.

a little update, i went out and cleaned off the area of the extra pipe on the tank, and looks like it was done aftermarket , probably by the dude that had it before. This cant be like this OEM from Ford, can it? And if it was added afterwards, if the 03/04 Cobra tank is the only tank that doesnt have that extra pipe, then i'm gonna have to assume its a cobra tank as i was told.

Judging by all the sealant around it and the fact it looks like it's a threaded piece of pipe, I'd say that wasn't original. I believe the pipe on the original had a beaded hose connection.

a bit more of the puzzle... i was reading some super old PM's i had saved, and apparently the original owner of the tank was using -8AN braided fuel lines. Would using braided fuel lines require a bung like this?
