Brake caliper paint

I've been thinking about painting my calipers red for awhile now, but recently I have been thinking about purple. I think purple would look good on DSG and would be something different. What do you guys think? Only problem, I can't seem to find a brand of caliper paint that sells purple...The only one that does is G2, but I read from someone that they come out looking kinda pink. Anyone have any pics or know anyone who has purple calipers on a stang? Does anyone know of a brand of paint (not caliper paint) that is best for calipers? Maybe I could try any old purple paint

I paint calipers all the time. Reason being because I build big brake kits. I used to use VHt, but even if you cure it correctly it still reacts to brake cleaner and brake fluid, so it becomes a hassle trying to protect the color from damage or stripping. Recently, I've decided to switch back to G2 because I don't have to worry anymore. G2 is very resistant, the only problem I have with it is that the brush that is included is crap and will leave hairs in the finish. I will be buying a good brush and presoaking it to prevent hairs in the finish. Also it has a warranty. If it ever changes color, fades, or peels- you send them a picture and you get a new can in the mail. Which for $37 is a good investment as you only need to do it once.

My advise to you is use the G2 paint. You can either combine colors to get your desired shade, or custom order a can. They also have leftovers of paint in custom made colors that you can browse on their site. That is what I would do if I was concerned that the stock shade was not ideal.

You want to try to use a paint that is resistant to brake fluid/cleaner in any effect, so that your finish is not fragile.

A Tip: if you are between colors go on eBay and purchase a fake caliper brembo pair for $20. Paint it with conventional paint in the different colors and check to see how the color looks on the vehicle. I've done this before when I was between red and yellow. It's an inexpensive way of giving yourself a real world idea of how that color will work on the car without dropping the $37-$100 on caliper paint. It helps turn a gamble into a solid color choice decision. *

Not to jack the thread, but would it be possible to get a matte/flat black as a color?

Engine Enamel works just as well if you can find it in Purple.

Decided against it. I don't want to look like I'm riding on easter eggs. Picked up the red Duplicolor kit

That's a funny line. But your not alone. I was once debating orange after seeing it on a merc. You can't go wrong with red.

Do yourself a favor and return that kit and pick up a g2 kit. You'll thank me a year from now!!!!

if you would have went purple you could have come and cruised with a local guy that painted his pink, along with putting a cobra bumper on his gt and painting the foglight bezels pink.

I already heard to many good things about the Duplicolor...and I already painted 1 caliper. It came out good, but now I'm waiting on fixing a stripped stud on my wheel Its gonna be awhile before I get my hands on the apparently 'custom' lugs that are on my car

sounds like fun. hopefully that kit stands up. They all look good but in time fade or flake. G2 has been the only kit that I've seen stand up. Painted my svt focus calipers when new in 04 and still look like the day I painted them.
