Is this cobra a good deal?

I'm looking at selling my 99 GT soon and buying an sn95 cobra but wanted to know if this is a good deal. Of course I'm going call the guy and look at it and what not but just wanted an opinion from you all first. Heres the ad.... 1998 mustang cobra

12+ is a little steep for sn95 cobra but it is supercharged and low miles. If the engine was forged I would think it's a pretty good deal. Try to get him down a bit. I personally love sn95 cobras so I say go for it Just deal and wheel!!

I always get a little sketched out about modified/boosted engines, but it looks like it is priced to where it must have been done right. go for it!!

If the Motor is built to handle the blower then I would buy it. If it's not then I would pass. Up to you though.

Also is it just me or does the motor look a little dirty for 38k miles? The shock towers are rusted and the vortech head unit looks oxidized along with the alternator and a few other parts there.

I bet you would, but if it was a Termi it would be a few thousand more than 14.5 lol...and it's still quick for an 01 Cobra. It's pretty stock, and on street tires still went 13.01 @ 106 spinning. My 04 Cobra isn't a whole lot faster than it. Plus it's cleaner than most 03/04 Cobras

Basically what I'm trying to say, is the one you're looking at is a piece of shit, when for a few thousand more you can have one that's newer, lower miles, probably faster than that ticking timb bomb, and will drop the panties quicker.

How do you know its a ticking time bomb? Its only got 38k miles on it so I wouldn't say that just yet. If I was to spend $14.5k on your 01 Cobra, you say its pretty stock so lets out it this way. Since its a termi replica you have to throw a blower on it so lets say I decide to throw a centri on. They go for around $4k intercooled, so im already up to $18.5k and haven't even done any supporting mods. So then I wanna put full exhaust on it. Headers, mid pipe, and catback is about a grand total for all. Now im at $19.5k. All I have is the centri and full exhaust and nothing else. (dont know what mods you already have on the car but assuming it was stock) at $19.5k when I could have just went and bought something like this..... Ford : Mustang | eBay

Any non forged bottom end is a ticking timb bomb when you throw boost at it. 38k miles or not the car in your original post is probably going to blow up at one point or another. If you want a boosted car, buy a Terminator. I was going to boost my 01 but decided to buy a car with a forged bottom end instead. It already has a mid pipe, catback, gear, and a couple other bolt ons now, so by your logic I already saved you a few grand (LOL) Good luck with your purchase. You should just buy the car in your original post.

I mean you make a good point man I understand what your saying but I bought my car with the eaton on it and its been at 9psi since installed which was about 50k miles ago. I've also heard centri's are easier on the motor compared to twin screws. But back to the topic anyways, About a month I got a liking for sn95 cobras and I've wanted one since then. My buddy has a 96 cobra with 4:30 gear, catback, o/r x, 75mm throttle body and handheld tune and ran a 13.2 at the track spinning with 245 street tires. Easy 12s with radials. Guess that's the power of the 4v : )

Too high IMO. 96-98 Cobras aren't holding their value at all. The 98's are doing a little better but not much. I'd say 10k if it had a built bottom-end. 9k the way it sits if its a stock block, and that would be pushing it. As terrible as the market, you can buy a much nicer/built car for 12k. If thats what you have to spend. Hell, you can buy an 03-04 Mach 1 for less then 12k and have a way better platform to start with.

I'm with 8URSRT. I bought my 03 Mach 1 for $11K. I wouldn't buy that Cobra b/c you don't know how the owner treats it. He will tell you what your wanna hear. I would buy a 03-04 Mach 1, or a 99,01 Cobra if your wanting to save money now..then just work on it as time goes by and someday you'll get it where you wan't it. but if your not worried about money now get a freaking Terminator...Thats what i origonaly wanted..but I'm happy with my Mach 1 for now..its pretty fast. In a few years I'm going to get a newer Cobra...Supercharged 5.4 ..sounds amaizing!
