Dual FPDM Time!

I'm getting ready to set things up for a dual FPDM.

I already snagged from a junkyard a 2nd FPDM, with the connector and about 9" of wire on it.

Here's where my questions are.
I'm looking to set up a plug and play harness, and minimize the hacking done. Where can I get the plug that would be the same as what's on the FPDM's face, basically one that would plug into the FPDM end of the vehicle harness?

Not only this, but what does everyone commonly do with the 2nd pump wiring? That is to say the wiring required to split the pumps on the fuel hat side. I've seen some use standard 2-pin Deustche connectors for a quick disconnect. Are there empty pins on the existing connector I could use?

Also is there any recommended means for splitting wires? Or does everyone just solder the node? I'm wary of creep, and wondering if there's a good way to do it with crimp connections. Oh, and I'm lazy.

Initially in the 520-550hp range, building the vehicle to be 700+ capable. You know, so if I ever decide to slap on a KB or Whipple it's a few bolts and a retune.

Any idea where to get the connector?

WestCoastMustangs.com
Saw both of them. I'm planning on sticking with the home made theme. Plus I've dealt with a local electrical/connector supplier through work that may have it. After all I could just hack into my existing harness as well.

The connector similar to the FPDM is available from a Ford dealer. The part number is 3U2Z-14S411-VJA.

No, there are not enough empty slots in the chassis to tank harness connector to add another pair of wires for the 2nd pair of FPDM to pump wires. That was one of the first ideas that came to my mind when doing the conversion. Unfortunately, there is only 1 open slot.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for the tip, I PM'ed you over on Corral earlier.

Welcome to MM by the way.

My connectors came in from Tousley yesterday. Alternator extension harness is supposed to be in Friday from Napa. Now just trying to get some teflon/nylon shoulder washers for the hat connections.

Thanks for the welcome.

I haven't sourced the washers, but I've have really good luck with fasteners from Orchard.

Anytime.

The tough part is finding a place around here to get them. All we've got in town is a Lowe's (useless) and a Rural King. I'm going to try a hardware store about 20min from here, if not there's a place not too far that has them, but I have to buy a pack of 40 for $3. Either way it will get done.

I did 650+rwhp...single stock FPDM...with room to grow on all stock parts...

This is why I asked. I don't spend money unless I have to.

Well stage 2 of the build is shooting for 700hp, plus I like the extra margin of lower FPDC. Plus I paid $25 for the second FPDM (hooray junkyard!) and wired it all myself. It wasn't a big mod really.

Of course we'll find out when I go to fire it up if I did it correctly.

Wicked, when I did my dual fpdm, I just used a pigtail I cut out of the v6 mustang. Wired it up and was good to go.

Yours should be good to go... BTW when you gonna fire that thing up???

I had the pigtail for the junkyard FPDM I got from an 02 GT, but I bought another set of connectors so that it was a plug and play harness. That way if I mess up too bad, it's easier to fix.

The plan was to get it going last weekend, but for some reason my "quick disconnects" in the fuel system aren't so quick to disconnect. Not sure if they've rusted or what, but I couldn't get any of the 3 to disconnect. No luck with pre-filter, post-filter, or at the hat. I know it wasn't the tool or technique, because it worked just fine on the 2 disconnects of my Cobra tank. Hopefully I can get this mess sorted out by the weekend.

...and then once I verify that works it's time to get down to business pulling the engine.

I'll make sure to post up some pics of the wiring once everything is installed and functioning properly.
