Why can't I tune my car?

is it just me, or is using an SCT tuner unnecessarily complicated?

i have an SCT X3/SF3.

i've installed all the drivers and updates, and loaded the custom tune files, but when i plug it in to my car and follow the steps, i get error code 1019, then 1017, then 1009.

from the SCT software on my computer, do i need to click "transfer file to device"? because when i click browse, it doesn't give me the option to open any .cef files.

the PC or ECM? i'm pretty sure i've done everything right on the PC, unless i have to "transfer file to device" in which case i don't have the option of opening CEF files, only LFU, LBU, and DLF files. then when i plug it in to the car and follow the steps to upload it, the first error says unable to unlock ECM, or something along those lines.

what if i save the email tunes in one of those formats instead of saving it in .cef? is that possible?

when you plug the divice in the computer, it needs to able to find it, then transfer the file to device. i know diablo doesnt matter but maybe the sct needs the stock tune loaded up in it before you can load a custom???
