Questions questions questions.

Had a few questions.
My plan is to get a 98 Cobra with the Teksid block.
And to do the following modifications to it.
04 Cobra revised heads.
Aftermarket valvetrain.
Keep the factory cams from the 98 heads.
01 intake manifold/maf all that.
Full exhaust long tubes o/r x pipe catback.
Forged internals possibly.
I'm going to delete as much as I can short of the a/c.
That way little can go wrong if there isnt much left to go wrong.
(This car will be a daily/road race car FYI)
I was told that the 04 heads exhaust ports flowed better than 98 heads and that thos ev heads combined with the more aggresive(if at all) 98 intake cams would be perfect.
More than likely going to put an IRS in it at some point.
But I was told after I ran that set up by a reliable source I could easily pull 350+ RWHP.
I am wanting some input on said set up.
All comments welcome.
Won't be getting a Cobra till I sell my GT.

My first question would be why a 98? Is it the body style you're after or is it specifically to get the teksid block? A 99 Cobra would also have the teksid and would already have the C heads and the IRS. Granted the IRS has 28 spline axles but the stock axle in a 98 would as well so that's really kind of a wash. I'm not sure that you'll hit 350 rwhp with that combo but you'd probably get 330 or maybe a bit more with a good tune. FYI, our Mach with intake, long tubes, catted H, and the stock 03 cams dynoed at 321 rwhp. You'd likely pick up a bit on the high end with the 98 cams and the off-road pipe.

Yes i'm after that body style.
Plus insurance lmao.
And as far as I was told the 98 and 99 engines were different not just the heads.
I could have crapy info.
I also cant find a decent 99 cobra for the right price and all.

I don't think you will hit 350 at all, MAYBE 320-330, I can understand the insurance will be cheaper, but with everything you can do to a 99 you might as well keep shopping till you find one. It's not going to cost that much more in insurance. You might as well call your ins agent and ask them to run a quote on both and make your decision from that. Good luck with the build, I'm curious to see what you actually come up with. Should be a lot of fun either way.

Well for me being that I'm 19 there is like 20+ bucks difference per month.
So for me thats quite a bit.
Plus for me I'm really wanting a 98 Cobra.
Cuz where I live I only know of one with 60 miles and it's a turd(5.0 ).
So I'm wanting to have something really unique to my area.
My plan is to do some things out of the ordinary as the vehicle will be show/track/daily.
Eventually will have IRS like I said and wanting a KB posi blower.
Wanting to take the 98 Cobra and use parts from all other mustangs mach1/terminator/fr500 wheels only most I can afford.

It sounds like an interest project for sure, if you do everything you plan it'll definitely be unique. When you get the Cobra keep us informed on your progress, could be interesting to follow.

Will do for sure.
Just gotta either sell my 2000 GT or find someone to trade a fairly unmolested 98 Cobra.
I have yet to see anyone with this set up and if anyone has I WANNA KNOW!
People I have gotten my info from are saying this only by past experience with 96 GTs that they did a "similar" set up on.
But I've just taken a liking to the fit/finish of the 94-98 cobra body.
And they would make for amazing show cars and road course because of great weight distribution and body roll center of gravity so on and so forth.
Coupled with a "built" IRS and few other things would be a MONSTER!!!

Does anyone have cam specs for 98 cobra, 04 cobra, and 98 GT?
I recently was searching and some guy supposedly used 98 GT cams on is factory 98 4v heads and those cams were factory more agressive?

Mustang GT cams won't work on a 4V head, they're completely different.

Here's a thread that lists the specs for all the various 4V cams.

350rwhp is easily achieved with flat top pistons, ported intake, 03/04 heads, long tubes, and 96-98 intake cams (cams installed at 108/118). Many stock Mach engiens with 96-98 cobra intake cams have hit 335-340. With a boost in compression and a good valve job it won't be a problem to reach your goal.

Do some searches on sites that have more technical experience (corral, SVTP, Mod fords) and you'll see what you need to do to reach your goal.

Here's a stock longblock Mach engine with 96-98 cobra intake cams, headers, and a ported intake:

I can give you plenty tips to help reach your goal.

The engine in that graph doesn't have the cams degreed. If they were degreed and installed at 108/118 the tq would have been much greater and the hp at 5000 about 25 higher.

Here are the "real" stock cam specs:
