Cobra with no motor on Ebay

Found this on Ebay, thought maybe some one would be interested. A little strange that it has no motor, unless they blew it and realized how much it would cost to replace it. Also I think the price is a little high, by the time you buy a cobra motor for it and install it, you could have easily bought one with a motor and running. Guess this would be good for a build though. Ford : Mustang Ford : Mustang | eBay

I'm guessing they bought it to put the motor/tranny in something else, and now are trying to recoup some of that cost by selling off the rest of the car.

$10k is awful steep IMO for what's basically a New Edge shell, termie wheels and body kit, some nice seats, and an IRS.

Wouldn't too bad for someone wanting to build a car and have a Cobra vin#. 10k is not exactly a deal though

Edit: It has had 8 owners? lol Also a salvage title.

The guy sells a lot of mustang stuff, I have seen him list other items before, I told him I would give him 4 grand for it, he then told me he can get 6 grand just from the exterior, I told him not gonna happen.

Damn, he's in LA.

Second, $10k? Hahahahaha. MPS will sell you a wrecked one with a complete running drivetrain for $11k, and I would consider that more valuable than just a shell. After all, you're just getting a Cobra VIN with the interior/exterior parts, on what's a run of the mill Mustang chassis.

And $6k for the exterior? What is he smoking? Hood is $350, spoiler is $400, you can get bumpers for $300 each, scoops for $150, and $300 for sideskirts. Hardly sounds like $6k to me.

I would have thrown him $4k for the chassis though.

I might go look at that. Only an hour. That'd be sweet. My dad mentioned a week ago he wanted a project car.

Don't forget those rims and tires, he told me he was gonna get 1200 bucks for those and the run of the mill fenders, doors and sail panels are gonna fetch big money because they came off of a Cobra. The mirrors will fetch 250-300

Rims and tires I can pick up off CL for another $400?

But he may be right to an extent, some idiots may think "Oh man! Cobra doors!" when they don't realize it's the same as a V6. If anything I've made a hobby of scrounging what I can from V6, V8, and other common models with 4.6's, and lots of times it's the same.

Maybe I should give him a call and let him know I've got a drivetrain to throw in it.

Wouldn't be too endless. It just needs a drivetrain. No body work right? I didn't read the whole thing.

Doesn't say anything about body work or looks like it needs any, but you never know.

If you had endless money you could just buy one in the color you want, rip the motor out sell it and then do what ever you plan.

I find this thread very interesting. About the only truthful post Josh has made is the fact that "I sell many mustang parts".

First off, you offered me 5k on the car, not 4. I told you to come up with another 4 and then we'd talk and wished you luck on your search. This should have been the last of our communication but for some reason you decide to continue; as if you even had 4k to spend on it anyway.

I told him I could get nearly 5k (not 6) out of the exterior alone which isn't unrealistic, but that's not the point. This was only to show perspective on his lowball offer.

This post is a complete 100% full-fledged LIE and the single reason I decided to post in here. $1200 for wheels, what? Big money for cobra doors/fenders, what??!
Not only did I not say this, on eBay or ANYWHERE, this just proves to me that you didn't even read the whole damn ad before deciding to waste my time. If you did you'd see that it doesn't even have Cobra mirrors, it has fixed GT/v6 style mirrors that may be worth 10 bucks a pop.

--------------------------------------------------

This is about the time it becomes laughable. He decides to email me (laughing in my face) thanking me for posting the car for sale. I'll copy the message here:

"Haha, Thanks I posted this in my Mustang forum to show what a high price this was and I a member responded with an 03 vert anniversary edition with 50k on the car with a blown motor, He said I could have it for 5 grand, going friday to pick it up and it is only 20 minutes from me, So I will thank you for helping me find one for 5 grand, without posting this I would not have posted it and found pretty much the same thing but rarer. Also a guy from the forum said he is gonna come visit you with 4 grand, said he lives 5 minutes from you i guess. Good luck, if you do decide to part out let me know about the mirrors though.- josh1456"

I'll just... let that one simmer a bit. Oh and i'm guessing he's reffering to Durr4456 as the member (With 4 grand who lives 5min. away from me). Perhaps my reading skills are a bit off, but I cannot find where Durr offered 4k, and my map reading skills may be off slightly too but New Orleans isn't quite a 5 minute drive. Josh you'd know that if you would have just read his post. So not only are you putting words in my mouth, you're putting words in his as well??!

----------------------------------------------------

So in my response I allude to the fact that I know about this thread. I try to explain to him that when the time comes that he sells his awesome red 2000 GT, he will probably set the asking price a little higher than what he would realistically anticipate getting becuase that's just what people do. I explain that if nothing else, the higher price helps to weed out all of the disrespectful, immature lowballers. I tell him this selling tactic isn't working out very well thus far, but I don't think he got the joke.

Andddd, here's his response:

NO not the same thread, I do not have a 2000GT, don't know where you got that info from. And no clue where you got the doors and fender thing from. Anyways I have a 03 Mach 1 and that is why I said I would take the mirrors as I think they would look nice on the Mach. And im gonna go for the vert with the blown motor and just garage it for now. But I did offer you 5 grand not 4.- josh1456

Annnd i'll let that one simmer a bit as well.
I should add that he never once inquired about the mirrors... And once again, the car doesn't even have cobra mirrors on it so he obviosuly didn't even read the ad.

So Josh apparently doesn't have a clue about a thread he started, and also thinks his 2000GT with a spoiler delete is a Mach 1.

I should also add that I don't make it my regular business to single out potential buyers and call them out. This would be a first. But then again Josh was never a potential buyer.

Josh if you'd like to show my auctions to fellow enthusiasts, that is totally okay by me and I appreciate that. Furthermore if you'd like to form your own opinions and discuss them in the forums, such as my prices etc. That is ALSO totally okay by me, that's the beauty of open-forums and the country we live in. But when you start putting words in my mouth and others it becomes a problem for me and I hope you understand that.

Oh, and Good luck with that blown up '03 Vert.

I would bet you mixed up some things or something. Also do you even know my ebay screen name? Don't come on here saying im someone else and not even post what I actually wrote. I have well over 5000 items bought and sold and I will be taking this matter up with ebay. Yes I started this thread burnt I did not write all those qoutes you posted. There. I have it put so that people know in general where I live. I'd pay for that cobra, but not 10. Maybe if the body and interior were perfect.

I'm not trying to bash anybody or anything. Just trying to keep the peace

I believe you're digging yourself a hole here buddy. Can I just call you buddy since it's apparently not Josh?

Considering a grand total of 2 different people have contacted me with interest, it wasn't very hard to figure it out. And unless you're Dale from Southern California that leaves one other person... That same person has already admitted in this thread to lowballing me, and even posted a link to my auction for reference. He also has 1456 in his screen name and is from Jersey... What are the odds!!!

EDIT: (From another Thread)

So, do you still maintain your name isn't Josh? Or were you lying there too?

My intentions aren't to bash anyone either, but I couldn't stand to sit back and watch the OP put words in my mouth.

Durr, if you're truly interested and would like to drive over to Baton Rouge and take a look i'm definately negotiable on the price but 5k isn't going to cut it : )

My phone number is in the ad, feel free to call me anytime.
