4V Build Q's Blockwork

Hey ya'll, I've been gather parts here and there little by little for my carbed 4.6 32V Cammer build for my 66 F100 shortbed. I've been curious if anyone uses oil restrictors in the block like you would on normal pushrod engines, especially in stroker engines like my 331. My 331 carries awesome oil pressure even in high temps on a normal volume oil pump. Im not sure if they would help oil on the bottom end, or if you could even use them in these engines, since ill be building a 5.0 stroker eventually

Also one trick that i think is well worth the time, painting the inside of the block with Glyptal enamel. Im not sure if anyones done something like that on the cast iron 4.6 blocks, don't know if it would be a benefit on the aluminum blocks or aluminum heads?

I've never built a modular before, just trying to see what tricks I can bring over from the pushrods! Whats your guys opinions on both these?

Oil restricotrs aren't needed nor recommended in mod motors. Glyptol, I've used it in the lifter valley of old school pushrod motors but it's not needed in these engines.

The only 4v carb intake is the sullivan and it kills torque and mid range power. So, putting it or a similar intake on a small cube engine in a heavy vehichle would result in very poor driveability. A 5.4 would be a much better option than a 4.6 as it will provide some tq even with the very short runners of a carb'd intake.

The truck should weigh as much if not less than 3500 lbs when its all done, id like to use a 5.4 but sullivan doesnt make their intake for the 5.4 anymore. Ill be running a 9" with either 4.56s or 4.11s thru a 5 speed tranny i have out of a cobra

5.4 Sullivan's are available on the forums; I see them for sale quite often.

There are other options that would work and provide more tq than a single plane intake like the Sullivan.

What other options would there be? Ive got a couple other options in mind, its just moving more towards injection. But then id need a computer harness, fuel rails, injectors, maf, etc... Id just like to keep it simple for now. I could go to a 5.4 but id like to use a 4.6!

But if you know of other options shoot away!

Adding a computer does bugger up things.

For 4.6 the intake options are:
-the stock cobra/mach, great for torque
-Aviator intake-can be made to work great with a little work

5.4 options:
-sullivan (carb or injection)
-the new Boss 5.0 intake (will fit with a little work)
-Navi intake, great for tq
