03 Cobra vs GT500

I figured this would be a good spot to put it other then underground. All you hear is about the 03/04 cobra how fucking MEAN they are. But what about the newer GT500's like the 07,08,09. Can they be just as mean buy just changing the pulley and such. I was just wondering bcs you don't see to many high HP GT500 like you do cobras. Anything huge difference between the cars of how they were made for performance wise. If i could get either one for the same price i would get a 04 cobra anyday but they are getting fewer and fewer out there and just wondering if the GT500's are gunna be the new in thing to mod huge like the cobra is now. Thanks for any info.

Cobra's are affordable to people who want to mod and drive the shit out of their cars.

Cobras are between 18k and 25k and gt500 are little more around 30k but the cobra is almost 10 years old. So in the next coupld years you don't think the gt500 will be down to where the cobra is

This, But Rzn has a nice looking GT500

03-04 Cobras go from 13k and up. The market is so huge for cars in that price range. Not many people can afford a 30k plus dollar car. Most the people who can, usually are looking for a DD not a toy.

I would like to see the hp gains from a port job, pulley, bolt ons and tune from a GT500 though.

13k and up? I don't think I've ever seen a 13k dollar 03/04 even with 200k miles. Hell I just sold my 42k mile 01 cobra for 13,500.

But 03/04s look much better IMO.

We had one at the dealer for 13500 with your same mileage a little while ago. Depends where you live...... I have seen quite a few on craigslist in the past for 13k's as well.

In my opinion GT 500's look better and the prices on them are dropping every day.
But it depends on what you want in a car. From what I understand Cobras are better in curves where the GT 500 edges it out in a strait line. And both can handle the same amount of horsepower.

Thanks for the compliment, but yes SGT, not GT500 and honestly I wouldn't have it any other way.

In my complete unbias opinion, my car looks better then most GT500s. LOL However maybe not stock for stock. It took money to get that edge on the GT500. More money to get me to the power of one.

But hey its just money right?

I love the look of the Cobras, I also like the GT500s. Its all just a matter of preference, and always will be.

My best friend has a 07 GT500, sometimes we switch rides just for fun, so I have a fair amount of seat time in those too. I would LOVE to have one. Interior is much better than mine and the shifter location is a lot better too. The front end of his Shelby looks just wicked coming up in your rear view mirror as well.
All that being said, my 03 has much more of a raw, muscle car feel to it.
2 completely different cars with the exception of the superchargers.
I'd love to add a GT500 to the stable, but would never sell my Terminator to get one.
To each his own I guess?

Maybe in MN there aren't many high hp GT500's, plenty in New Jersey. Several of the local cars are putting 663 to 725rwhp. We mod our cars just like you do, but the initial cost is higher, & that higher cost nets you more " stock " hp. My 2011 dyno'd @ 481rwhp stock......1st mod netted me 656rwhp !!
Heavy - yes, 3820 for the coupe.....wheel & tire change knocked 110 lbs off that, driveshaft another 21 lbs.
GT500 - next big thing ?? 2013 GT500 - 650 ( crank ) hp.....200 mph top end !!
.....Wish I cared, enjoying my ride, & the mods keep it current.

If money didn't matter my vote be 2010+ GT500. At an affordability standpoint 03-04 Cobra all the way.

Everyone is forgetting the fact that a 03/04 has the IRS and the GT-500 has a live axle, or no one cares? My big selling point on the two is that, I love banging interstate on-ramps at 100+ flying by all the other car. Each to their own though, I know a lot like the drag strip.

I don't wanna hear it. My super coupe is over 4K lbs and I am LUCKY to have 230RWP and 330RWtq. It's still decently quick with less than half of the HP and more weight.
