03 Cobra Inner Accessory Belt (6 rib) Length

Ok, so I'll probably seem like an idiot on this one.

I'm trying to get the accessory belt on, the inner 6 rib one, not the outer 8 rib supercharger one, and it just seems to be far too short. This one came with the blower kit, and has the number 960K6 on it, indicating it is 96" length, just as recommended.

Can anyone verify if this is the correct length?
Is there anything I might have done that could have changed the length? All timing cover pulleys and WPP are OEM Cobra ones, but the PS and A/C are still the GT ones. I can't imagine Ford changing pulley diameter for those.

Your Ford parts man can probably tell you the length, either that or he can put one on the counter for you to compare.

You're a funny man. When I go into the Ford parts dept here and they hear the words "03 Cobra" they look at me like I have 3 heads. So far every single part I've ordered from them takes a week or so to get, so they couldn't even compare.

Same generally goes for the larger parts stores.

I was hoping some 03 Cobra guys might have some better info.

I'm sorry, I live in a big town with lots of Ford racing and SVT dealers, It didn't occure to me that parts guys would be like yours.
If none of these guys can help you I will go to the parts man hear and get you the info.

I just came back from the parts guy and he sent me a picture and said it was 96 inchs. I'll send you the picture if you e-mail me. fireltb at hotmail dot com

Dammit. Well I've got a 96" belt and for some damned reason it's too short. I'll have to see if my use of GT PS and AC pulleys would affect this.

The AC's are all the same. I am also pretty sure the power-sterrings are all the same.

Can you post a pic on how you are trying to route it? If you think the routing is correct, you can take and route a peice of string and then measure to get closer to the size you need.

The stock size 03-04 cobra belt is 96.

That's what I figured.

And I was using the Ford FSM for the belt routing. I'll double check my work and try again tomorrow.

I just wanted to explore this since some of the stuff from the blower kit (especially this motherf*ckin harness!) hasn't always been correct.

Follow up:

Checked the FSM for belt routing. I was doing it correctly.

The only thing that wasn't OEM Cobra was the PS pump since I'm using my GT one, so I began to suspect that might be larger diameter than the Cobra one. I confirmed with another member (looooots of reps to Termi_GT) that he's running a 96 Cobra belt, which I looked up to be 97.5" length, a full 1.5" longer than the OEM Cobra.

As far as pump speed this means that I will be spinning the pump slightly slower than the Cobra does, so there is no concern of over-spinning like there is with the alternator.

So there's yet another lesson learned for anyone doing the overly complex GT to Cobra swap.

Glad I saw this. So I will also need a 96 cobra belt? Is there any way it would be easier/cheaper/possible to get a smaller ps pump pulley?

Also, how are you making out on the wiring harness?

It was a typo on Termi_GT's part, he meant 96" Cobra belt, so back to square one.

So far no one, (myself included) has been able to point out something wrong with my installation, so it may just be a case of needing a longer belt. My suspicions are in the 97"-98" range. I'll update when it gets done this week.

Also, wiring harness is a PITA. Got some of it pulled apart this weekend, but between prototype progress reviews at work and a hell of a cold progress is slow.

Do you think it would have been a little easier to mock up the wiring harness on the motor outside of the car? That's what I plan on doing. I want to have everything mocked up before I put it in, as far as modifying the wiring harness for the cop's and alternator...

I'm doing it by overlaying it over my Cobra harness, which means I can do it in the comfort of my living room.
(Although the gf doesn't appreciate wiring harnesses all over the living room floor for some reason.)

But doing it on motor would probably make it pretty easy as well.
