Can't make up my mind, ugh!

Alright, I can't make up my mind whether I should buy and finance a 96-98 Cobra with some mods already done to it, OR if I should just keep my 95 GT and just put all of my Trick Flow parts on it. I still have about $1000-$1100 left of stuff to buy for the build to be complete. I do not really want to spend that much money. I love the 4v motors and although i do like the 5.0, I think it's outdated, obd1. I also love the sound the 4v cobra motors make. I know when I put on the Trick Flow parts that I should have around 350hp but I'm afraid that with the car going up in the mileage, currently at 74,300, that stuff will begin to break. My car is still having a little trouble with rpm's sticking and suddenly dies, but doesn't do it as much, I think its the fuel pressure regulator. Tell me what yall think, should I keep my car and put the parts on, or get a lower mileage Cobra and finance it?

figured I'd post this in the 4v section as well lol, tell me how yall like your 96-98 cobras, or any cobra in general

I would keep your push rod sn95. A set of trick flow r heads and intake manifold with full exhaust and aa camor is a nice bump in power. But if you ever want to go crazy with power a dart block 347 with heads cam intake and exhaust is a sick combo with boost. It is relative in cost building a 4v vs a 5.0 when it comes to new paarts

If you're eventually going to do big HP, I would keep the 5.0 because the parts are cheaper. If you are just going to do bolt ons to the cobra and appearance and what not I would just get the 4V because I would imagine it would make 350hp with exhaust, bolt ons, tune. And then you have a newer car, its a cobra, its a 4V, and it would be easier to sell down the road I would imagine. But, if you eventually want a 10sec drag car or something I would keep the 5.0.

I mean, im only 17 so im not really looking to build a 10sec drag car lol, but I wanted to buy a cobra the first time around but was impatient and HAD to have a car so settled for the GT. I found a few really nice cobras on craigslist and the corral. I really love the 4v with the sound and the performance. I don't plan on going to the track at all with my car. I want a cobra so i can keep for my one more year of high school then go to uti in houston next year, i just want something i will love to drive, will be reliable, and have some pep to its step..found this pretty sweet 98 cobra, idk if its too good to be true though: 98 Mustang Cobra convertible (Super Clean)

texted that guy in the link above and he sold it already, DAM! lol. Thats what I am looking for, some people want a lot for some of these Cobra haha. I would need to finance it though, how would I go about financing it since banks usually don't loan money to cars that old

I don't know how it works in LA, But here in GA if its an American car older than a 2006 banks dont like to finance it. Your best bet is saving your pennies, enjoy your GT for now, then pick up your Cobra before UTI. Atleast you got to start with a Mustang in the 1st place. I had to wait till 4 months ago to get my first Mustang and im 24!!! But i did get a 96 Mystic Cobra with a Saleen bodykit. I do love it very much, but it scrapes on everything and drinks gas like its going out of style!!! Good luck with whatever you decide brotha

Might be trading for this: WTT 97 Mustang Cobra - Ford Mustang Forums : Corral.net Mustang Forum
He said he would trade for my car plus I would give some cash on top. Cobra-drifter, how do you like the saleen body kit besides for the scraping?

Oh I wasn't talking about the body kit scraping, more like the long tube headers scrape on EVERYTHING!!! And what sucks is I still have fender-gap!!! To answer your question though I do like the Saleen kit, except for I dont have my fog lights anymore

haha, well how low is your car dude?
The only thing I would miss on that car im hoping to trade for is the rear bumper that has "Cobra" on it instead of "mustang"
I want people to know I have a cobra lol

I mean, its low just not what i'm uste to (240SX low). I want what people refer to as "Stanced" !
The headers hang down 2"-3" past the frame rail towards the ground.

I know what you mean about people knowing it's a real Cobra. Real mustang fans can hear the difference.

Might not get you too much room back, but maybe new motor mounts might help regain some room.

To mustangmaniac95, if you can find someone with a car you like that will trade with you, why not? Just make sure to go over the car thoroughly to make sure someone isn't trading out their problems. Also 74k isn't much to worry about, there are plenty of still decent fox mustangs running around with an extra 100k and probably not too much re invested into the overall condition of the car.

Thanks! Yes i got it back Oct or Sep this past year. I was thinking about re-selling it, but ive really fallen in love with it. Plus now that ive got the exhaust the way I want it to sound, JLT cia, and New upper and lower rear control arms its a lot tighter.

Aren't 5.0s supposed to have way more low-end torque? Plus i know for a fact 5.0 parts are WAY cheaper, both for performance or replacement.

Alright guys, wasn't able to get that red one. My car sold last night, and is getting picked up on the 6th so will have cash in hand. All of my h/c/i parts will be sold by next week so I think I will have enough money for a cobra. Here's is another one I really want, this one has really great interior: For Sale 1997 Mustang Cobra with 77k - White - Ford Mustang Forums : Corral.net Mustang Forum
Emailed him, bottom line is $7500 for a 76k mile car, thats better than a 100k mile car (red one) for the same price

I got $5100 for mine. Would have liked to have gotten more but wanted it gone, ah well. It's going to a good owner though
