New Exhaust


So I finally just ordered an offroad BBK X pipe and some SLP LM1s and I should get them by Thursday. I was wondering, what kind of power gains will this set up bring me over stock? I was considering buying an SCT tuner with the free Bama tunes also but thought I'd wait until I see how this exhaust helps my performance. I'm pretty excited lol

With an off-road X-pipe and cat-back system, you're probably looking at 10-15RWHP or so. The restrictive factory cats are where most of that gain will come from. The sound will be completely different and you'll notice an instant difference in power.

Great choice! Hit me up if you have any questions at all about the SCT tuner and Bama tunes. You're going to want to have us turn off the check engine lights (P0420 and P0430) for not having catalytic converters, too. The light gets annoying!

i have the same set up on my gt, except for i also have headers. it sound super good and is louder than most anything i've heard. they are reasonably quiet for cruising speeds but when you get on it screams. i have no doubt that you will enjoy it. most people dog the lm1's but they have never heard it in person.

Finally some positive talk about SLPs haha. From all the YouTube videos I've watched and a neighbor that use to have a Mach 1 w/ them I've loved them. I want to be heard from a long way away lol.

And thanks Chris! I actually ordered the SLPs from AmericanMuscle but the only offroad X you guys had was a Magnaflow and I didn't want l pay the extra $100 and the employee i talked too on the phone said the BBK X for the 96-98 GT's don't fit cobras so I went ahead and ordered the BBK from LateModelRestoration. Can't wait to get it all

That is going to be one loud and obnoxious exhaust. Personally...I hate SLP Loudmouths. Way to raspy for me. That X pipe is really going to raise the volume.

Good choice on the BBK X pipe. I've heard good things about it.

yeah i bought mine used for $75 from a guy who had his neighbors call the cops on him. i actually got a ticket for downshifting around a gsp and he pulled me over because i rattled his windows (I really just scared the crap out of him cause he was mad as a wet hen when he came to my window harassing me) anyways it was "excessive volume". oh well, it sounds awesome and i get compliments all the time.

I've been searching for good reviews online but all I can find is ooold posts from a coupl years ago of guys complaining about the X pipe making a rattling noise. Hopefully it wont do that. But that's a pretty funny story joshdj13 lol. I've been pretty lucky with not getting a ticket yet from the 3 times I've been pulled over but hopefully the loudmouths wont change that lol

4v' sound good with x pipes. As for lm1's I prefer them with a prochamber

good choice i have lm1 catback and bassani o/r x on my cobra SOUNDS INSANE!!! If you like your exhaust sounding like a million bees when you downshift haha. it is insanely loud but hey im 17 so it seems cool lol. But about the power gain after my exhaust sct and jlt intake my car personally did not feel any different.

prochamber ftw!! prochamber gives it that more deeper sound while x pipe gives the rasp

prochamber is pretty much a small muffler in the mid pipe, instead of it being a x or h pipe.

i will try to get more vids soon like highway fly bys and burnouts etc. I just got my liscense and its been pretty cold here so i havent drove the stang too much, i personally wanted as much rasp and loudness as possible and the o/r x and lm1's was perfect.

Well i just got them installed. The exhaust guy freaked out and said he could get shut down for taking my cats off so I just went ahead and left the front two cats on for now. Sounds alright I guess. Just not as loud as I was hoping it would be

Youll have no probelm without cats. Just a check engine light. But be ready for holy fucking raspiness. Had it on my 02 GT and ya....hated it
