04 eaton on a 01 cobra


So guys my friend has an 01 cobra and a friend in our mustang group just gave him his eaton off his 04 cobra. What all are we gonna need to put the eaton on the 01? I know this has probably been posted a bunch of times. If anyone would point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

01 cobras have diff heads than a 03-04 cobra, so getting the later cobra manifold to fit would require some fab work, or a head swap. you will then need the pulley bridge, power steering braket, alternater braket, piggy back crank setup, and pulley for where the alternater originaly was. also people have issues with the ps line being different. from there of course you will need maf and fuel upgrades. its kind of a big project that adds up in the end.

True the 99/01 heads are different than 03/04 heads, but aren't the intake/exhaust interfaces identical? The 03 Cobra manifold I have bolted right up to the PO's 01 Cobra motor, and it works just fine on my 03 Cobra engine.

But yes, there's a whole myriad of nonsense you'll need with an Eaton swap. It's well documented on several forums for guys with 99/01 Cobras and 03/04 Mach's.

And let's just say the PS lines can be umm, worked around.

Yea intake and exhaust are a identicle just what stal said have to grind down the tabs on heads where the gasket tabs were located. Also have have to grind down old knock sensor mounts on the block for intake clearance

This swap can be done cheap if you keep looking for bargains on ebay overtime. I had a little over 2 grand in mine, spendiest part was buying the oil cooler new from ford cause I could not find one used.

I thought the spendiest part on yours was popping the motor.
