Threw 2 Codes P0430 & P0420 Today

I just got my Mach 1 today and I drove it today a bit, while I was on the highway the check engine light came on. I dont have my SCT X3 anymore because I sold it to the guy who bought my GT so I went to autozone to check what code it was throwing. It was the following 2:

P0430 & P0420, I am wondering do you guys think its because it has a MAC Offroad X- Pipe or should I be looking elsewhere to find out what it can be? What do you guy suggest I do or look for?

When I had the SCT X3 for my GT I turned of the rear O2's on my SLP catted X-Pipe but since I don't have the tuner anymore what do you guys suggest I do and do you even think its due to the off road X?

Since it's failing both banks, it's probably because of your off-road pipes. Buy a tuner and turn them off.

Thanks Dewayne I will most likely have to do that again, but this time I will get a used unlocked one. (should have never sold mine) Do you have any idea if it could be something else and if so how would I know where to pin point it?

Codes 0420 and 0430 are "Catalyst efficiency below threshold, data valid but low" codes. This basically means your rear HOS's are working, but they can tell your catalytic converters aren't working. Since you have no cats, that's pretty much the only plausible explanation.

Shut them off in the tune or get some MIL elminators and you're good to go.

^^ this, or if you want to turn off the code for real cheap until you can get a tuner, go get some spark plug non-foulers and put the O2 sensors in them. Then reset the battery.

The owner said he has MIL's on there but he said they never worked do you think this is still an issue with the off-road X or something else?

Glittle what are those non-foulers and how do I put them on?

They could be crappy MIL's or he lied to you.

These codes monitor catalyst efficiency only. They're just an emissions compliance code. All they do is compare upstream HOS readings to downstream and see if the cats are doing their job. You have no codes for the HOS's themselves, so obviously it's the lack of cats.

You can get non-foulers in any auto parts store. They just thread between the HOS and the bung and get the sensor probe out of the exhaust stream.

I don't have any pictures on hand, but it's pretty hard to mess up.

The MIL eliminators just plug in, one end to the oxygen sensor (HOS) and one end to the harness. Just clip em in and you're done. It's just an R-C circuit in line with the sensors.

If there's no jumper between the sensor and harness, and the sensor wiring doesn't look modified, the PO might have lied to you, which would explain the CEL.

I would forget the MIL's and just get a tuner to turn the o2's off and gain a little more power. Made a huge difference on my mach!

My gt however, the canned tune didn't seem to make much difference.

Did my own custom MIL's with some capacitors and resistors and it cleared the code at least it hasnt come back on yet it only cost me $12 for the parts at Radio Shack. Zinc showed me a site on where to check it out and I got it done after work today.

Went for a drive and the CEL came back on I wonder if the soldering disconnected. I wanted to know if I were to get new MIL's would I have to fix the soldering on the O2's for it to work or can I just plug the new MIL's in and even if a wire is not soldered together will it work?
