RADIATOR FAN STAYS ON ALL THE TIME

hi. i just got my car back from the shop. the motor was rebuilt with new cams, port and polish, headers. i noticed my radiator fan connector was unplugged when i got home. i plugged it in, and the fan came on. the car was off. what could the problem be?

did it go off after a bit, or did you disconnect it again?

Does the fan in your 97 stay on after you shutdown the car to help cool the car? Or always went off as soon as you kill the car?

If it is coming on with the car off, and not supposed to be, then the relay is getting power somehow, obviously, trace it back and see where the power is coming from. Fan relays are usually 5v IIRC, so i doubt its straight off the battery.

it stays on all the time if it is connected. even with the car off. it never did this. the only relay in the circuit is the CCRM. the fan is ran off a 60amp fuse in the fuse box under the hood.

look on your coolant crossover, you should have 2 temp sensors, on sends its signal to the PCM / CCRM to turn the fan on, and the other is just for the dash guage. If the on for the PCM is bad, it sends a hot signal and will kick the fan on no matter what. Try switching the plugs between the two and see if it goes off, if it does, change the bad sensor. If not probly swap the CCRM with a known good one and see what it does, or just go ahead and replace it.

it was the low side relay in the ccrm, i cut the power to the fan after the ccrm. i then grounded up the signal wire from the pcm to the ccrm for the high speed relay through a switch. i can now turn on the high speed fan at my discretion. thank you for the help!!!!
