Yes, Another Head Tick Video
Hey Guys,
I am hearing a tick or more like a knock in my motor. Video below with a little factory ear candy at the end - just for watching! Sounds like it is coming from the rear of the drivers side head. It increases with rpm up to probably 1,500 - 2,000 RPM where I can't hear it anymore due it disappearing or being too fast and blending in with other engine noises. You will hear it still ticking faster than I would think it should when the motor slows down which seems a little odd to me. Also, it sometimes is silent and then sometimes loud like the video no matter if hot or cold. I must admit that after a recent IMRC delete procedure, it did overheat on me a couple of times until I got it burped and re-filled with coolant. Could this be the valve guide issue on Termi's due the heat?

im gonna go with something got messed up on your IMRC delete, an the overheating probly didnt help.
The ticking from the cobras is c-head specific. not 4v in general. You have b-heads. Sounds like valvetrain noise for sure, but i vote for valve guide after the overheating.

I would suggest pulling the cam cover off on that side and checking everything. That is not a good/normal noise from a B head 4.6.

i had the same problem in my 01 cobra, i pulled the motor and it was a rod bearing, i got luck and it didn't hurt the crank or anything else.

That's good but I don't think this is a rod bearing. (at least I hope it's not I think) It definitely sounds to be more on the top of the motor and louder on the driver side than the passenger.

Sometimes a bottom end sound will echo up to the top-end of the motor.
