If you're going TT, then don't even bother getting gears and stick with the stockers or at the most 3.55s. 4.10s will be too much gear for turbos. How do I know, because I had 4.10s before I went turbo and went back to 3.55s.

Well I went out and priced gears and a tuner today, including install its $625
and right in my price range so looks like Im gettin tha 4.10's. When I go to a TT set up im swapping the rear end to solid axle so my gears will prob get changed back up to a higher ratio. Havent really decided what to do about the rims yet tho, im lookin for some bullits but i want 10.5" in the rear still. Thanks everyone for the help! They should be installed by late next week if everything goes to plan. Ill post back once I get them in and the improvement, and hopefully add another kill to my list of a certin '97 camaro and all other camaros for that matter!

Also I forgot to add in that Im running no exhaust right now except for manifold and x-pipe. I dropped the cat-back last weekend. Should this increase proformance because I cant feel a difference? I still have enough back pressure and it doesnt back fire at all and sounds damn nice! Anything I should no about not running a cat-back?

Its gonna hurt torque but it may give you 1-4hp on top end. Thats what I did at the track befor I got my pro dumps and I could definatly tell some of the low end was lacking.

I would go with 4.10's now and when you do the solid axle swap for the TT setup than go back to the stock ration. Also, get some cheap ass used stock wheels with some drag radials for the dd stuff and put the 20"s on for shows. This will also keep your rims in better shape.

And $625 seems a bit high for a gear swap.

Yes, it would make a world of difference. Rotational weight has a major effect on vehicle performance.

Just go with the Turbo set up and leave the IRS. You can run low 10's with the IRS and still keep that great ride...

Yup, that's a good price, and the 20s are hurting the performance a good bit.

bullitt rims are decently cheap and are sexy, alot of stangs do have them thu.....ALOT of them do, i really like the look of my stock mach wheels, i have 17 inch roush rims on my v6, but there really old school roush rims, more of a powder coated silver not the chrome, and they look nice as hell, i just dont dislike 20 inch rims on stangs i hate them, get some 17 or 18s, and everyone is right on the 4.10s, congrats on owning the cobra thu

in 1999, i believe the stock gear ratio was 2.73. And in 2001, they switched to 3.55. That made a .4 sec difference on the strip. Going to 4.10's(and having those HUGE wheel) should balance out to the same gain, the tune should then drop you into the high 13's.

Well I know stock specs on the car was the 3.27 gears and my car is in the high 13's already so hopefully just the change in gears will get it to the low 13's since the 4.10's will over compensate for the rims

I still stand by the 4.10's, but it's not my car, it's yours.
