GT 500 Heads

Are the GT 500 Heads the same as the 03/04 cobra heads or are they bigger? Anyone know? If so can they be put on 4.6 liter blocks?

They are basicly FR500 heads like where used on the 2000 Cobra R. The exhaust bolt pattern on the head is different on the shelby head than other 4v heads so header selection will be kinda tough. Probably just run shelby headers but I am not positive about fitment. Also the intake ports on the shelby head are raised, so you will have to run a custom manifold or get some adaptor plates to make your stock one work. Thats basicly the jist of it.

powersrj, you could always port and polish your stock heads. that'd probably be your best bet.

+50000 If you have a 99+ cobra or a Mach then thats your best bet. It will be easier and cheaper. The 03-04 Mach/Cobra heads aren't very much below the fr500 heads. Having said that if you wanna change heads thats the heads to shoot for. They are cheaper, easier to get, and are a direct bolt on for a 4.6 4v.

The Ford GT head is the GT500 head.

The cam, blower, and block are the main differences.
