Nitto 555R
Who are running these for a 'decent' hooking street tire and how do you like them? These Goodyears are getting on my last nerve. Need something with a little more bite but undecided on which brand/type I'm going with.

they're a great tire, tread life isnt great but thats what you get when you want to hook

This may be a stupid question, but how are they in the corners?
I'm guessing that the sidewall on a drag radial would be pretty soft, so they wouldn't be very good.

I always thought the order of traction for drag radials was generally like this:
Mickey Thompson > BFGoodrich / Nitto Basically reverse that order for tread life. Everyone here swears on M/T DR for the best traction. Seems like the consensus is 555R are excellent and have a modest street life. This is all based on no research other than the opinions I've read from around the modular forum here. I can only say that my M/T hook ridiculously well. |

i just got my 555rs and they hook real well on teh street for a good price. M/Ts i heard dont last as long and they are a little more expensive. but if you go with the 555rs you wont be dissapointed

basically mt''s are gonna hook the best, personally have had them drove 25 miles around town got back and was missing 2 32nd's and i didnt even burn out or stage, im sure the first top layer of rubber is the softest, ive had nitto's on as long as 15k miles and as few as 200 its all in how you treat them, as for bfg's they suck and wouldnt ever waste my money on them ever again.

There's still some tread left, let some air out of those bastards and get that outside tread!

The general consensus is that the 555r's are excellent tires.
I'm sure you already know this, but be careful with that IRS and these sticky tires.

youre exactly right. theyre terrible in the corners. i hit some curves hard with them one day and ill never do it again. the back of the car felt so loose.
