cast or aluminum block

I want to build a new engine for my fun toy .I need help on what block to use.I do not want to use the one in her, I want to keep it as back up. I want to get up to 700 - 800 hp. Drag and auto x racing but streetable. Should I use a new cast block or a used Teksid aluminum block like I have now?

Teksid block. Less weight and unless you are gonna go past 800 you won't have to worry about it. The teksid should hold you past the 1k mark.

And a semantics issue - cast isn't in opposition to aluminum. Cast is a process to make the block, aluminum is the metal the block would be made from.

...

Yes, I'm *that* internet asshole.

...

And I'd say Teksid, just put forged internals in it.

Teksid.

I don't think you thought any of this through.

Not only is a 800hp built Teksid motor expensive, but building a car that can handle it safely will cost a bundle. Transmission, internals, forced induction (you'd probably be looking at a turbo setup), custom exhaust, proper chassis modifcation, suspension, roll cage, harness...

On top of this you want to drag and autocross it and still drive it on the street? Your "backup" motor to your 800hp monster would be your stock... 305 crank HP Teksid motor? You do know 800hp would put you well into the 9 second bracket and some, right?

Heh, I didn't read that... 800 hp, drag, auto-x, and streetable. Honestly, these things are in opposition.

My suggestion - take all this money, get a full MM race suspension under your car. Then talk about 800 hp.

Streetable 800 is not too hard to do. If you are using a turbo setup just go with a digital boost controller, and dial it back for DD purposes. As for drag setup vs auto x setup. It all depends on how hardcore you wanna go in either direction. With fully adjustable shocks/struts and coilovers up front, along with the other supporting suspension mods its not too hard to accomplish. However, if you wanna be setup perfectly for either one then you will sacrifice the other. I have seen plenty of terminators running around with 6-800 hp and they DD them as well. What he is trying to do power wise is not gonna be the issue, its deciding what he wants to do with it and what he is willing to not be able to do with it because of that. It is a very expensive project but its not insane.

Don't care realy. He wanted info, he got it. I know my build isn't going to be no 800hp monster but I bet it's gonna be the baddest N/A 4v on this site.

There is thread on it in here. But its kinda under wraps how the motor will exactly be. It will hit the 500whp mark N/A though. And its not a 5.4 swap.

Yes going twin tubo setup.Suspension is allready started and more planed. This is just a fun weekend car and not dedicated drag or auto x car. As for as cost, speed is a question of money I know this. But buy what I can, as I can and can do the work myself. Thank all of you for help and insight.

If it's any idea and if you don't want to do the work I spoke to a performance shop and was told for around $15,000 the car could be built to put out and handle around 700hp and most likely run 9's and street driven.

If that's high, I don't know, just throwing out a figure I was told. I figured it wasn't that bad considering the turbo, exhaust, transmission, tubular front end, roll cage, safety equipment, forged internals, etc.

Do I have that money? Nope! It's just something for me to think about later down the road when I'm looking for single digits, right now I'm happy 12-13.

I didn't mean for the first reply to maybe seem jumpy, just it seems like a regular occurence in the 96-98 board : "Hay, guys I'm going to supercharge my car once I'm out of school, I'm going to be a junior in high school next year. What do I need to do this?"

How is your car running with that 100 shot, E/T?

Yes I know what you mean, nothing to get upset about. $15,000 is a very good deal, but I have just as much fun wrenching on my car as I do running her and I can buy parts when I have play money. 100 shot is FUN just don't hit it in 1st or 2nd - wait until 3rd! 75 shot is alittle more street friendly.
