Moser 31 spline axles

I have built the rear of my Mach with Moser 31 splines, 31 spline trac lok, 4.10s, and FRPP girdle. I have run ET drags at the track twice. Is it possible to bend an axle with around 300 rwhp? I dyno'd my car last weekend and it had a definite wobble at low speeds on the passenger side. Can I effectively evaluate this by jacking up the car and turning the wheels to look for a wobble? Your thoughts?

You shouldn't have done any damage to a Moser 31 spline axle at that low of horsepower.

Could it have been a bad axle maybe?

That is what I was thinking. I have been launching at 6000 - 6500 rpms but that was only the last time out. Could it be an axle bearing? Besides a tear down, anyway to diagnois the problem?

I suppose it is possible but I have had them on the car for about a year with 4-5 times to the track. This was the 3rd different time on the same dyno and was the first time there was the wobble.

Did you replace the bearings when you put them in?

Yes, all new bearings. Figured as long as you were in there, might as well put new in. The rear had less than 3,000 miles on it when done.

Say about what? I did the work.

The general concensus is I didn't bend the axle. I will investigate this weekend and report back.

I was asking what the tuner thought about your car doing that...

I would take the axle out and send it back...You should not be bending axles...

He said it happens with high rpm launches with slicks. The funny thing is I haven't noticed it anywhere else. I will see if I can get to the bottom of this on Saturday or Sunday.

pull the wheel off, and see is the axle stub wobbles...bearings going to make a grinding noise, especially turning left and leak oil. sounds like a rim or tire problem.

are your axle tubes welded? could have torqued one a little bit and it's causing excess wear on your bearings
