I prefer Bilsteins. I run them on all of my vehicles. They cost more, but they're worth the money.

i had toks on my whip...had to remove them for the stranges...They worked great for a mild set up going down the road and playing...wouldnt dead hook for squack...the stranges are 9 way adjustable and work much better for all needs in my opinion...

I just switched over to a new wheel setup and i have nitto 555's all around; so i was wondering if these would help the tires grasp the pavement and/or last longer than our stock units. Bilsteins would be great, but i dont see myself spending that much for a set. I can improvise with another descent product.

I run bilsteins too; one of the best things I've done to the car so far.

I can't say enough about how happy I am with my Strange Engineering 9-way adjustables. Rides like stock, helps hook like hell.

if you put "cheap" adjustable shocks (i.e. < $1000 set) on a shock dyno, they suck tremendous amounts of ass compared to a comparably priced non-adjustable shock. The valving is horribly inconsistent between settings.

Also, you shouldn't be using shocks to make up for too-soft springs. Shocks should be matched to your springs. Using shocks to effectively up your spring rate will only result in blowing out your shocks long before their time.

They can't be that horrible and for drag the Strange should hold up well all around, many people run them happily and successfully.

$1000 is a ton of cash for most people to drop in shocks alone. I picked up Strange shocks and struts, Steeda Drag Springs, new bushings, etc. all for under $1000 or so.

I paid $650 for my bilsteins, but they were also a shock that was well suited for my springs. Drag shocks, and lowering springs, doesn't that make that car ride like a tank?

The thing is I don't plan on lowering my car. I'm satisfied with the machs stance/height. Ahhhh forget it. I'll save up and purchase the Bilstein set from american muscle.

Typically how long does a Bilstein setup last? Keep in mind i'll never switch the springs.

How much do you drive your car? i thinkit depends on driving tactics, usage, and so forth...

I have 8k mi on my car. I barely drive it, so they'll last a while for me.

They should last a long time if matched properly to your springs, and they have a lifetime warranty IIRC, so I believe that you can get them rebuilt/revalved for free. (definitely double check that though).

And yes, $1k is a LOT of money for shocks, which is why I suggest non-adjustables: you can get the same quality of shock for less than half the price. To get the same shock quality as you get in a Bilstein in an adjustable shock, you'll be paying around $500 per CORNER.

And just because you're drag racing doesn't mean you don't need good shocks, you're still dampening the excessive movement of your springs.

I can see the logic in this, and will consider Bilstein if they offer a rebuilt/revalve for free. I know that i require a dependable and great dampening system for overall shock absorbtion. I was curious to see if there were alternatives for a lower bargain.
