That stock bottom end prolly wont like that for long with 70k on it....but then again ive seen em go forever when they shouldnt....

Good luck with all that exhaust tubing in the tight ace space you have t work with...the longer you have to run them to a single outlet the longer the lag will be...but it should get you there for what your looking to do....

you should be fine with a tial 38 wastegate....

good luck with the build

The block is definitely strong enough, but were I to go turbo, I'd be looking at replacing the internals with forged units and bumping the compression down under 8.5:1.

Predetonation is bad, mmmmKay?

Why would you get a new block when you already have one good for 1k hp in the car?

Pipe length has very little to do with boost response.

The GT35R will be plenty for your goal. I'd suggest getting in touch with a turbo system fabricator to work out your plumbing and head unit placement. A 38mm wastegate will eventually limit the power you can produce, so if you have plans for more than 500rwhp in the future, consider a 44mm wastegate now.

The 98 block is actually good for more than 1000hp. With the proper machine work, the Teksid blocks have successfully supported 2000+hp. Your block is nearly bullet proof. It will get the job done, i promise.

The 98 block is fine, as Goblin said. You just need to upgrade the reciprocating assembly with forged peices.

Buying a shortblock you'll probably actually end up with a weaker block than you started with, it'll just be rated for more hp because of the internals.

38's limit you at 500? wow mine made 697 on pump gas... and does tubing not effect lag time??? if it s a straight quarter milecar with a 2 step id say ok...but a street car??? hmmmmm

Yes, but you will have to take it to a reputable tuner. And without forging your internals, your car is going to be a ticking time bomb.

You don't need a turbo system or 450 rwhp to hit low 12's in a streetable Cobra.

You don't need 450 hp to pull low 12's. So low 12's are easily done with an internally stock engine, bolt on's and good drag suspension. Maybe a little weight reduction, which you have already started with that tubular k member and a arms kit.

Like I said, a good drag suspension, some weight reduction and bolt on's. Something close to 300rwhp and a lighter weight car will make it into the low 12's.

A good example, there is a bolt on only Mach on the registry that, with lots of weight reduction and a GREAT drag suspension, is running 11.1x's. His engine is internally completely stock and I think he is dyno'ed around or a little over 300rwhp. You don't want low 11's so your car doesn't need to be as extreme as his is in the weight reduction and suspension categories.

You could have a low 12 sec car and then save your money and to the turbo and engine build at the same time.
