Seafoam is supposedly the best and it's what I use most often. Other than that I usually use whichever brand goes on sale for something crazy like a $1. This week was Gumout. I buy a new brand every so often, last time was Shell, before that, Exxon. I can't really tell a difference in any of them, I mean I don't think anyone could unless you baked your injectors full of junk on purpose or something and then cleaned the snot out of 'em.

Cleans out the crank case and all the oil passages. You can only run it for a few minutes then you need to drain it all and change the oil. Its a pertroleum based product so it will start breaking down everything in the oil and you don't wanna have it in there very long. I don't think you need to do this. I would run it like I said up there, then maybe suck some into the manifold thru the pcv hose. That will help clean out the manifold and heads.

ok well i ran the crap out of it yesterday

the reason i ask is because the mach is almost at 80,000 and i dont know if the past owner did anything to keep the motor at peak performance.

Anything else i should do?

like stated above flush the coolant, change the tranny fluid, spark plugs, ect.

seafoam is some good shit. i usually put about a third of a can into my intake and same thing in my crankcase, the rest in my gas. I run it for about 250 miles then i change the oil. Works wonders man.

Replace all the fluids with royal purple, and do the fuel filter like FM1R said.

OOOO and don't forget to rotate the air in your tires.

I like it, I change my oil every 3000mi, and it's not even dirty. Great stuff IMHO!!!

I ran Seafoam in my crankcase for quite a while over the 250 suggested miles on accident more or less. I think I hit 500. My car lived through it fine.

For some reason Seafoam through my intake didn't give me the spectacular smoke show I was hoping for. I wanted my car to be Cheech & Chong afterwards, but all I had was a sputter at 55,000 miles and it's a 1996.

Tomorrow I'm going to pull the intake apart - again and clean out my IMRC to make sure I'm getting the most out of my high RPMs. If you have a car equipped with IMRC (96-98 Cobra mainly), the best way to clean your engine out is still tearing the intakes apart. Get all that oil out of there and really give those butterflies a nice blasting of carb cleaner, brake cleaner, whatever else you want to give it. Obviously this won't do anything in the cylinders or to the fuel injectors (must run something through the tank or manually clean the injectors) but there is no liquid solution to cleaning the motor out like there is good ol' arm power.

I read I need to remove my coolant crossover tube, pretty sure that seems excessive to get to the butterflies.
