That S197 actually booked to 60 pretty fast. It's not fair that the Mach had a rolling start either.

The Mach 1 has more torque, yes. But something I think people are forgetting is that the 4.0L V6 in the S197 isn't horrible. That's a big V6 - granted it's hauling a big car, but still. Ford site lists the car: 210HP@5300 and torque 240@3500. That's not too bad.

Probably nothing. most likely put it on there for gas mileage. If he was a modding guy it would already have a shifter, and most likely an exhaust.

Those things get taken off when traded in. Alot of times when a car hits the dealer the guys in shop rob off the aftermarket parts. The shifter, and exhaust is good for any new edge with the T3650.

machs dont have torque stock. you have to go down to your local advanced auto and just ask for some torque for a 03-04 mach 1, then explain to them that a mach1 does not carry the GT motor.. and that its the big bad 32v " like the cobra" as they say....

when i explain my car to people i say 32v and they are like ' OHH a cobra motor, how much was the swap" or.. woah mach 1 badge on the trunk, did you add that or did it come factory. "? ( these are no lies. real events..)

IMHO, the 4v's have a real smooth power delivery, iot doesn't feel torquey, but they really are.

but compared to a 4.0, should it be able to just "leave the earth" during a launch. my dad's 1SG owned a 99 Cobra and said that it would "leave the earth" so I'm assuming that since they're both 4v it should do the same, right?
off topic, but how's the 99 Cobra compared to the Mach?

The Mach out performs the Cobra on the strip. It also puts down more power in stock form.

i agree with this. I know what you mean exactly. the most torque i ' feel ' is if i run a gear up to like 4 grand or so and let off the gas, if i just barely tap the pedle the whole car jumps forward bahaha! but they do have plenty of torque for the average person , of course there's always room for improvement.

if it really doesn't have torque, maybe he can make plans when he drives it again to swing it by a mechanic. im pretty sure the dealers and such can't deny you having your own mechanic looking at a used car. i COULD be wrong but ive seen people do it before and they had no problem with it.

but like its been stated they dont really feel as torqie as you might expect. its there just outstanding. its just a 32v no supercharger or anything like that. but if its not pulling hard it needs to be looked at because something may be wrong with it.
