Roomie's WRX

so my roomate got a new turbo for his WRX (not an STI). he says it'll be putting up 360 hp. what can i do without nitrous, turbo, or supercharger to beat him? i havent had my car dynoed but my mods are listed below and it has had the recall work that all 99 cobras had the option of doing. any suggestions to beat this stupid automatic wrx in horsepower?

he says it'll be putting up 360hp?

I call BS on a non-sti with just a turbo swap, unless that's crank hp? In which case he'll be putting down ~270hp to the tires and you shouldn't have a problem with him so long as you don't spin too hard.

06 and newer wrx's have the 2.5 as apposed to the 2.0......

putting a bigger turbo on that car would essentially put it in STi range

Which is 300 at the crank. unless there are other mods I do not think he would get much above 300 if at all.

What kind of boost is he running to get to 360 and is there any other mods?

Then I also call BS on the 360. Stock that car is right around 220hp at the crank. I think they are about 175 to the wheels so to get 360 he is going to double his HP.... I think not.

You should be good to go.

honestly, I don't think power will be your issue.

His biggest advantage will be traction. Were I you I'd be looking at suspension and tires so that you can lessen that gap.

You could get UDP's and the Stewart Water Pump, Aluminum ds, 4.10 gear, and you could start practing your driving, and your car the best mod that anybody can afford, The driver mod.

Suggested launch rpm for a Cobra is actually really low, 1000-1200 rpm.

EDIT: that's for a b-port/straight-axle... not sure what it would be for a c-port car with IRS

Wait wait wait. What's the only difference between a WRX and a WRX STi? The only thing I know of besides the turbo is maybe some suspension work and badges. The engine is the same and if he slaps a bigger turbo on than the stock STi one you might be in for a hurting, especially from a dig. Once that thing gets rolling though it is a turd. I went 4 wide against 2 other cars and an STi and that sucker moves until about 80 then I reeled it in.

When I get my slicks, I'm going to try to launch a bit harder.

2005 or older have a different motor. STI has a 2.5l and the non STI WRX came with a 2.0L and he already said his Roomies car is not newer than 06 so he must have the 2.5.
