Is 200mph in 96-98 Cobra possible?
I know it sounds crazy but i am near to buying one and my goal in life is to build a vehicle i can hit 200mph once. I think it would be easier in a vette(cuz of aerodynamics) but i really want to pull it off in a cobra cuz its the car i really want to own not a vette. You can call this a goal that i set out to accomplish in my life. Why? I dont know. I just want to hit 200mph and i know i'll never be able to buy a $200,000 car. And if i was able to i'd probably be looking for 250mph.

Sounds like your 16 or 17. Stick to 80mph.

If you are really serious about this I hope your planin on a dedicated race car and doin this on a track some where. 200mph is tough even in a vette, or 200k supercar. Theres very few places you have nough room to make it up to the speed. To do it in a mustang you would need some custome aerodynamics to pull it of. I dont think a mustang would be stable enough at those speeds, even windtunnel tested cars have issues. The affect of wind increase by a factor of 4 with speed. While anythin can be done I dont think its worth it with a mustang.

+1
+1 But, just for the sake of answering your question, yes. Is it stupid? Yes. Is it expensive? Yes. Would I advise going that fast? No. If you really have to build a 200+ mph Mustang, just get your car to 500+ rwhp and that would be enough power to say you can do it, though, again, I would advise against it. As far as 250 mph? You would need over 1000 hp, A LOT of downforce, and fin' NUTS to even consider it. |

you may as well just pay a little bit to test drive a car that will go 200 mph?

Bonneville salt flats is a nice place to try this. plenty of room to build speed and with a nice wind at your back. start looking for a 20 speed transmission...

True but you'd have to push it at a speed....oh nevermind. lets not get into this. Add a space shuttle fuel and ignition system and you got it. Well maybe thats too darn fast. Ask the Government what engine they're using on their AURORA.
