1/8 mile times?

What are everyones 1/8 miles times? I won't get to drive the Mach 1 I just bought until I redeploy so I am wondering what to expect when I go to the track..

what are the mods? bone stock mine ran 8.9 on bald street tires.

with my current mods, my best was 8.9 on decent street tires. the fact is machs dont hook up without good tires and im talking nittos or something.. im not sure if its bc of the gear or what but they just spin horribly. i was pretty disapointed when i added about a grand in mods and didn't lower my time any.

current mods.

jlt intake, bassani o/r x , bassani mufflers, mgw shifter, xcal3 custom tune.

now you'de think that would drop your 1/8 mile time a bit but with traction the way it is all i did was spin worse than before.

What about mickey's? I have a set of M/T's D/R's on my 98 that i can switch out because they have never seen the track but are they as good as nitto?? They are the E/T Street (track) radial..

im not sure i have no actual experience with dr's

ive heard m/t hook better than nittos but if they are just the e/t streets then im not sure at all.

basicly some form of drag tire is needed weather its a full drag slick or a drag radial. streets just honestly dont cut it at the track. now my street tires hook up just fine on the street but you go to the track and try to run some low times and its just hard to do, some people can do it but most can't. i sure can't. i know a guy with less mods than me running 8.5's with nitto's

edit and hes got a 04 mach

The M/T street radial is actually like the 555R its just that they call there slicks "Drag radials".. If you look at the website you will understand what im saying..

With just exhaust and a tune my first pass in the 1/8th was an 8.7x and I can't remember the speed. This was on street tires.

After adding 4.30 gears, CAI, a better tune and M/T ET streets I was running 8.1x's... This was in FL on a 1/4 mile track. But I still can't remember the speed... I think it was high 80's.

damn man. you must have one hell of a track there running 8.7's on street tires. unless the street tires were pretty superior. im gona link you to a few videos with me and my car at the track. got some upclose shots in one of them of me coming off the line. my biggest problem is the 60ft i just cant get them down.

this one here is the upclose of me

Although street tires will never hook like a drag radial will, a driver can eventually get them to hold to some extent. It takes practice to get good at launching on them and not smoking out the stands. Either the driver mod or slicks!

If I were to switch back to a normal street tire today I'm sure I'd be a horrible driver. I've been driving on drag radials since I moved to FL a couple years ago.

yeah but i just dont see the point in wasting the track time on street tires. my goal at the track is to get a good number no matter what. i could personally care less if i can launch on street tires and run a perfect time i just want my car to hook up and show what its really capable of. i know damn well its better than 8.9's

if you wanna go to the track for fun street tires offer a nice challenge on getting out of the hole good, if you want to see your best times, forget about it theres no point on street tires, i had 275 BFG drag radials and it was ok but it still spun bad, on street tires i couldnt launch at even a grand, i have to pull out like on the road but more aggresive, if you buy some nice drag radials like some M/Ts in a 275 and hit them babies up youll be doing alot better but spinning will still happen, stock with decent tires like stated above your prob looking at 8.9 to 8.7 maybe

yeah i plan on some drag radials. i live real close to work now so ill be saving alot of gas and should be able to save up for a spare set of rims and tires just for the track. also i still havent raced at the well prepped track around here. ive been going to the closer one thats older than dirt and has grass growing up through it

I forgot to add that I had Steeda upper and lower control arms put in in FL too. That is as much of a help on 60' times as a drag radial is. Very good mod for the cost.

They make your ass not squat as much so you sustain the same weight on the back tires bro.. When you flux weigh back and forth is when you break traction real bad..
