cobra engine?

I know a guy who picked up an 03/04 cobra that was hit from behind and is totaled. Last week he made a few comments about how he would sell me the motor/tranny for a few k, and a buddy of mine says that I almost have to do it. How much work is it to take the cobra engine and get it running in my 03gt? I don't have all the money for the engine, but im told the guy might go lower for just the engine and I could use my transmission. If I was going to stick with being happy with the 390hp or whatever for a while, the t56 wouldn't be needed right?

and the fuel pumps, the tank would be good too but not needed. You need the cobra ecu as well. Make sure you get the heat exchanger with it too.

the trannys are also amazing to have. That T56 is a beast. But is he encludung the intake with the engine otherwise won't you need a MAF to. But the swap really isn't really that bad

If you get the trans you will need the clutch and flywheel as I beleive the cobra has a 26 spline input shaft. But the cobra motor will rip apart the stock gt clutch in no time

Ok, so if I dont get the tranny, everything will still bolt up right? I know that the cobra engine is still a 4.6, and it is from one mustang to the next, but I don't know if it is just a straight swap, or if there is more to it. I am not sure if I will do this, but if the guy will let me have it cheap enough... I might just get it. I know it is a dumbass question, but how would it all work out if I take off the SC, and run it without for a short while? Will the intake manifold and whatnot still bolt up to the 4v or is that all different? This all came up when I was talking about problems I am having with my transmission, he told me he had a t-56 he could sell me, and that went on to him saying he would sell me motor + trans and whatnot. I can have my transmission repaired/replaced via warranty, so I dont think I would NEED the 6 speed. I have a few k saved up, but not all of what he is asking for motor + tranny. I don't think the fuel pump + tank is an option, he said it was hit hard from behind, would the GT fuel pump be enough or should I look into finding a better pump?

You definatly need to upgrade the pump. Either a dual cobra setup or the GT Supercar pump will hold it. The stock mustang gt pump won't hold that much power. You tranny will handle the stock cobra motor setup for a little while. You should upgrade yours when you can. The cobra motor has an 11" flywheel and your stock setup is 11" as well. Just get a better clutch, fuel upgrades, and the ecu and wiring

Well I am sure the ECU and whatnot shouldnt be a problem, the guy has the car and better let me get that too. Just curious, how much would a 2v 4.6 with ~78k on it go for. If I could get ~1k and no surprises come up, the swap might end up cheaper than throwing a V1 on my car. Though not as cool as having a cobra motor, if its cheaper to just throw a centri blower on my car and have just as much power ill do that.

if it was my choice. ide grab the cobra setup. you can't go wrong with the forged internals and a motor thats built for horsepower. It just depends on you. I don't know a thing about the swaps but it looks like everyone says its not a huge deal to do. So if you CAN get the cobra motor i'de definatly do that before I tryed to build up a 2v. you'll just flat out get way more out of the cobra motor IMO

You will have more power potential with the termi motor than your stock motor. The swap isn't that bad. Just do some reading up on it and you will be fine.

Well, this is my DD, I think ~400hp is what ill settle with so if its from 10psi from a centri or from a cobra swap, after that won't matter too much to me. Im still seriously considering it though, because saying I have a half cobra would be much cooler then just a supercharger.
