General Supercharger Question: Busted Seal?I just picked up a supercharged cobra (for a deal) and I just had the supercharger rebuilt because there was oil in the intake, piping up to the throttle body, etc... Now the supercharger is a Paxton Novi 1000 and so I shipped it out only to receive it back with a broken turbine shaft (the nut and end of the shaft were cleanly cut off) so I had to ship it back out again and when i received it I put it back on (obviously). Let it idol, revved it up, etc. I waited until the next morning to take it out so I could double check everything and so I was driving down this lovely strip going to maybe 5 lbs boost through 1st, 2nd, and a little into third. when I had to stop a little ways up to turn, I was hit by this wave of smoke which smelt like burning oil. So I pulled back to my house, opened the intake pipe directly off the s/c to find some nice oil puddles. Now my question is, is there any other possible cause for oil to get in the piping before and after the s/c other than Paxton pinched the gaskets on the s/c the second time I shipped it to them?? Just want to be prepared to fix anything else in case it isn't the supercharged although I don't see how oil can get there if it isn't from the s/c. Thanks, Chris |

It is the S/C leaking. Could be the case as well. With them workin on it so much they might have cracked the case letting oil leak out. If you can let it idle and then shut it off and check the compressor side and see if there is oil on the actual fins. It could be leaking at the shaft seal or the actual case. With all the trouble you are having I would push for a new head unit
