I don't believe I would honesty Chris I want to stay N/A.. I like the bottle and I like high compression engines.. For the most part you are right about the easiest and cheapest way.. I just gave my opinion that N/A is better but that is my opinion not fact.. But there is one true fact and that is I am a better ninja then you..

lol

Never...

I love high horsepower N/A engines...

But the modular is at the bottom of the charts when it comes to big N/A horsepower...But it loves boost...

Its not opinion thats a fact...Look at the LS1 etc...Can make massive N/A power...The modular on the other hand is the polar opposite...They dont make N/A power for the most part...Its just not in the cards for your normal person to make a high horsepower N/A modular...Those that do make it have a love for it or they wouldnt do it...Because making N/A High HP numbers with a modular is kinda a fruitless labor of love...

If that makes sense...

When you can take a 4.6 DOHC...Forge the bottom end...Get some nice heads...Get some nice cams...A big single or a pair of hair dryers...and a fuel system and watch the car dabble in the 4 figure rwhp range...

It takes a special type person to make a N/A modular...Ac is a freak...Ask him...Hes a fucking mad scientist...But thats on AC and I give him props for that shit...

4 digits are not in my budget.. I only want a 500hp diet that consists lots of rice and occasional LS1creamcone...

But have you ridden in a car with that much power N/A? It is a thrill of its own.

I think Chris pretty much nailed it when he typed, "fruitless labor of love". I don't think most people understand the extreme dedication I have put into my car to get it where it is on motor and on bottle. I wish I had a video of last weekend. I ran a guy in an 01 GT. He had the basic BS, gears, and a 125 shot. I ran him on motor three times. Once, he put a bumper on me and the other two times, we were dead even. I was quite proud of my little car.

Having said all that, if someone came to me and asked, "AC, what is the best way to get power out my modular for the lowest dollar amount?", I would have to say get a good centrifugal blower and spray a small shot (maybe 100) on top of it. Would I do this? Probably not, but the fact remains that modular motors like boost. I have been driving a pullied Cobra quite a bit lately (probably logged about 800-100 miles in the past month) and I can say that I love the driveability, but I don't like the power curve. My car puts your ass in the back seat when you apply throttle (period). It doesn't matter if I'm on motor or bottle, it is the feeling of instant power that turns me on. I mean, I'm getting wood just typing this. I think Eli can vouch for me when I say that the WOW factor of an all motor is outrageous when compared to a blown car, but that does not mean the N/A car is faster.

To the OP:

There are much better choices than a 5.4 engine for a NA set-up. Have you ridden in a 5.4 car? You should try it. It has great bottom grunt and then nothing. The bore to stroke in the 5.4 makes me want to puke. I have said it before and I'll say it again, bring a 5.4 out and race me. You may pull out of the hole a little, but I'm coming by that ass like donkey kong when we get wound up.....

That sums it up the best IMO. I could have just planed on a boosted car or a huge nitrous shot but the feeling of the power no matter where your foot is makes me chubby as well. Not to mention with the 4v you can make the power last and last on the top end.

That is a thought that i like. but i think i need more than that. most of the guys around here are running low 11's on the motor. do you really think i can get there without forced induction on a 4.6?

With a stock stroke/ 3.700" bore motor, ported C heads, a pair of well thought out cams, a chopped and ported intake, long tube headers, and all the bolt ons, I don't see why you couldn't hit low elevens......
