Yeah I would like to get my B heads ported sometime soon. I've debated doing it myself but I really dont want to ruin them and since its my dd I'd have to do it all on a weekend and invest considerable time.

I want higher than usual gains and I'm sure my first job would be sub par. Unless it's just that easy, but from what I've been reading there is much more to it with some math.

Anyone else port their own 4 valve heads?

if you dont know how to port i dont recommend doing it. its easy to do it wrong and mess up a good set of heads. 4v heads requires twice the work of a 2v head, and half the room to work with. there is math and science behind porting. if you are familiar with how to do it, then have at it. i also have the toos and equipment to do it as well. i just dont want to scare people off from doing their own work, but i also dont want to see people mess something up especially on expensive vital parts.

There is a science to porting, it's all about enlarging the port size for volume, but also directing the air, and fuel flow. I learned this from my uncle, who worked for Yamaha in R&D snowmobile division.

Theres a few how to guides out there but I think I'll stick with an expert. Just not confident in my ability to do it right the first time.

Other than what kind of gains can be seen from extreme cases of porting?

I know around 15-40hp gains are expected from 4v heads. If I went the extra mile and really payed out the ass for a good shop could my gains be any higher? I've been tossing around the idea of a NA build and this is where I should pay attention to make power.

So what kind of gains have the extreme cases seen with 4valve B and C heads NA. I know any kind of porting on FI will see better gains, I'm curious about NA.

I say that because I know that AC spends alot of time thinking and rethinking on his specs and takes everything into consideration... Don't take that as a hit to your pride ok I don't know of your skills for all I know you could be as good as AC...
