Question regarding hesitation (Tune info) Eaton swap @WOT
The car is tuned using Sniper, and I just mailed the most recent datalog off to the tuner to see if he can figure this out, but I thought I would ask here too, in case it's not the tune. Under WOT, I notice hesitation from time to time through the gear. Maybe 3-4 times it'll almost seem to stop accelerating for a moment. I have the data log in Excel format since I'm sure most don't have Sniper to read it with. But I guess that I can't post it here. I can e-mail it though if someone wants to look at it. A/F is 11.6, almost steady, but never goes above 12.0. Stock upper and lower pullies, stock intake, Sniper MAF, stock Cobra injectors, stock Cobra tank and pumps. Any other info you need, let me know and I'll post what I know. Thanks!

That'd be funny since it's all the stock stuff. But when I had it dyno'd way back when on the break-in tune, boost stayed at a constant 8.16psi the whole way through. But for the hell of it, I'll keep an eye on the boost gauge next run.
Here's a bit of extra info too, that I find odd. It doesn't always hesitate. I was noticing it more during the day. But then it did it last night, and it was nice and cool out, so the theory of heat is out the window. My IAT temps were super low. Also, it did it all 3 times I went WOT in 3rd, but 4th seemed nice and smooth (only went from about 2500-4500 or so), and it also hesitated the one time I went WOT in 2nd. So I have no clue. |

well i guess the belt could start slipping at any time. go in there and make sure theres no kind of film or residue on the belt or where the belt contacts the pulley.
i wonder if you need a new fuel filter like me? |

Filter was changed about 3000 miles ago. Fuel injection flush was done about 10,000 miles ago. But the injectors/tank/pumps are used, so perhaps the tank was dirty, or injectors are dirty. Changing the filter and doing a flush are easy. Maybe I'll try it just for the hell of it if I can't figure something else out. |

I'm sorry to throw this thread off topic reloaded, but what are you putting down in rwhp on a dyno?

BTW, it was running so bad that they did two pulls, and said it was free. Haha. He told me to come back when "I would put down some real numbers". The graph was all over the place. |

Does it hesitate on shift, on tip in, or when already at WOT? Email the log to joe@tricktuners.com with a link to this thread and i'll look it over and maybe post up some pictures of the data graphs.

I am cruising at about 2500 RPMs, then go WOT and through whatever gear I'm in it hesitates. Does not seem to hesitate between shifts. Only when I'm already going WOT through a gear, or making a pull basically. E-mailed. Thanks!

If the problem is only on tip in, the fuel system needs to be tuned better. Other than the pressure drop on the hit, everything looks ok. For some reason my picture didn't upload correctly. The pressure drops to around 28 psi on the initial hit and it probably runs lean.

Quick update for this evening. I'm giddy like a school girl! Willie from Sniper sent me an e-mail about all the stuff that he changed (It was like chinese to me. Best I can tell, something about using parts of an 04 Cobra tune), as well as a new tune. Well I just got back from the test run, and all I can say is WOW. Throttle response is way better, the idle is back to normal and under WOT there is no longer a hesitation. It almost feels like there's something keeping it from going faster, but no hesitation. It feels WAY stronger and faster over all, and so much smoother. Just wanted to give a BIG thanks to Willie, and I'll be sending him an e-mail shortly to thank him as well. Also, thanks to everyone for suggestions. I'll probably end up doing some of the stuff that has been suggested here and on SVTP just to do it because I should. Anyway, have I mentioned lately just HOW MUCH I LOVE BOOST????

Called Pat at Sniper , gotta give him credit to find the problem , he told me what to check , D gain on the fuel pump , he said set it to 0 and it should clear up the hesitation , and on the fuel thats the only thing I changed other than changed the timing just a tad to better match but a little lower than what the 04 cobras run stock because of the non forged pistons
